Black out

Postby paper_stars on Tue Jul 14, 2009 10:14 pm

(The entire bunker is pitch black, when Christoph, Jodie and Olivia left to go out side.. the reserved power went out because it took to much to open the doors. So it is black, besides the little bots running around that tony may or may not include. However at the moment this is taking place in the Med lab 1 with Nat's character. Anyone can join.. since three of us are outside I wont have a player limit on this topic.)

Something had called to it, perhaps it was the sudden surge of power that hummed from underneath the earth.. or perhaps something had simply sent it here. When the doors to the tunnel had opened, it made its way into the bunker.. Slithering like a desert snake across the sand. But alas! It was invisible, its deathly hide masking that of its surroundings.

When the door to the tunnel had closed and the one to the outside opened to let the three, plus lu lu the AI out, the force from those doors opening took the last bit of power from the building and literally caused it to black out. No reserved power, no emergency lights, no lights in the little med lab... Nothing kicked on, and there was nothing left to use.

Darkness

It moved across the ceiling of the bunker, its senses tingled every which way and that. Humans. They smelled so delicious it thought it was going to drool. But it was here on a mission, sent by another.. a scout it was called. As it snaked its way around the rooms, its senses were going haywire. There was something amongst these humans that stood out to it. Something that called to it with a much stronger force. desire.

It’s invisible form slid into the med lab and hovered from the ceiling above. It’s beady eyes locked on the human below it. The little girl..

It was hungry and this little meal below it was far more tempting than any human it has ever feasted on. It then drew itself closer, maneuvering so it had one clawed hand pressed against the wall and its other still on the ceiling.

It was the size of a human male, to be exact when it stands on its hind legs its nearly six feet tall with a four foot tail trailing off behind it. The creature itself was a weapon, with a hard hide of a bone like structure and jagged points on its tail and long vicious claws on its front legs. An elongated head that fell into a snout of sharp teeth. Two little beady black eyes sat on either side of its head just above its snout. (Similar to an alien from Aliens.)

It’s tail would fall down and slip under the body of the girl and curl about her measly shape, with its tail wrapped about her bosom and neck the creature would then lift her body up and closer to it. In this time, its invisibility mask would flicker away as the creature lowered its head. Its snout hovering over her face, the two little holes on its face breathed in her scent.

Drool seeped from the cracks between its sharp teeth and dripped down onto her chest. Hot raunchy breath would wash over her face as its mouth parted to allow a black tongue out, its tongue drawing a wet sticky line up the side of her neck and cheek as it tasted her.

Delicious.

What was it like to have slept for a thousand years? Would you wake up feeling refreshed? Would you feel like a whole new person? Would you even notice how much time had passed? When one slept for a day straight-- or more --one felt the sting of time passed, and the soreness of muscles caused by such minimal movement over time. What would one thousand years do to a person? Would time compound all the pains of inertia and spit a person out in agony? Would the feeling of time's passage strain the mind to the breaking point?

It was unlikely that Natalie Lei would ever know, for her awakening was a decidedly rude one-- one that felt more like waking from a nightmare . . . into another nightmare.

The girl groaned softly. Any awakening, after a sleep that long, was going to take time, regardless of how sudden it should have been-- and this situation should have denoted quite the immediate reaction. Yet still, it took a moment, a moment of her groaning in protest at the idea of waking, and trying to turn over-- but she couldn't. She couldn't turn over, as she was practically upright.

It was this specifically which prompted her to wake up quicker. She wasn't somewhere familiar-- she wasn't on a bed she knew, she wasn't laying down, and there was no nightlight. Where was that thing? She always used to have one available when she was sleeping. Waking up in the middle of the night was easier if she could see.

Which would have been great, now-- genuinely. Natalie couldn't see a thing. She opened her eyes reluctantly and tried to see, but there was nothing. Nothing more than absolute darkness. And that was when feeling kicked in. There was something on her-- something hot. It wasn't a solid, either. Not only that, but she had pressure all around. Pressure upon her chest and neck, pressure that made her almost feel weightless. And then, there was something else-- something else that was hot, like air. Hot air upon her face . . .

Instinctively, without even thinking, the groggy adolescent reached her hand up to her chest and set her fingers upon the hot liquid that seemed to stain her chest. There was much more upon her neck and cheek, however-- and for a moment, the girl, stricken by the delirium of a thousand year's sleep, didn't recognize the source of the pressure or hot air or warm liquid . . .

Son of a bitch,” Johnny exclaimed as the darkness swiftly overtook the light, his face transitioning from surprised to a stern and angry glare. Not that anyone could have seen the glare, of course. Just as there was no artificial light at this point, the enclosed space, more like a bunker than a well equipped facility, was not quite accepting of natural light, either. “This is some shit right here, I swear.”

Awkwardly feeling along the nearest wall, the accented man made his way in whatever direction he thought was towards the med-bay, he had recalled rather vividly a small, smoking robot that was hooked to something or another, he wasn’t quite skilled in determining what it was hooked to, but it obviously served some purpose for the power. And of course, the smell of smoke still being in the air helped to aid the man, at the very least, maybe he could make a few sparks, build a fire out of his shirt and whatever else would burn, until the power was brought back online.

Despite the lack of light, the man’s eyes worked to focus on any little thing, an odd shape here and there, or maybe the glowing chassis of a malfunctioning automaton. So far, however; he saw nothing.

“Anybody here,” Johnny announced his presence, assuming his footsteps and heavy breathing hadn’t done the job. “Markus? Asian chick? The fella who hates quee--!?”

Running out of wall, the man felt a sharp pain in his shin, just before tumbling to the ground; face first, and sliding a few feet forwards.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck!”

Johnny shouted as he used his left arm for support, his right groping for the hat that had fallen off of his head and to the ground, his mouth still moving to form various profanities, eventually, however; the man found himself standing again and continued forward, he could hear something else in the room, even above the noise of whatever else was in the facility, something that was almost similar to the sounds he was making, but not quite. That was all he could hear, all he could really focus on, due to the lack of his sight. He finally worked himself up to asking it, the question that was quickly over taking his mind.

“Is.. Uh, is there someone else in here? Y’all need to come out and say something’, now. This shit ain’t funny.”

"You had me at real big knife..."

Markus would have laughed. He would have answered her in another witty way that would have exuded charm and charisma. He would have hoped to actually be with a girl, who wanted to be with him -- and not his measly government paycheck, that he wouldn't be around to spend, which left it all up to her... oh shucks. But all of these would's and hope's ceased instantly when the room went jet black. Abyss consumed him and his eyes closed immediately. Instinctively. His breathing calmed and he turned around, tracing the counter top back to where Lucy was.

His fingers traveled gently across her kneecap, raising up to her thigh carefully - where she sat on the counter. His breathing was shallow, deep long breaths sucked in between silent lips as his hands came to the outside of her right hip. Then leaving her body, Mark touched the knife case again, and then pulled out the knife he'd just had. They'd been reacquainted and his lips curled. Spinning the blade in his right hand, til the edge was away from his forearm and reversed against his grip, Mark's left hand grabbed Lucy's left and he pulled her from the counter and whispered, "Listen to me carefully. Something is wrong. I can feel it. I need you -- to go over to the MRE's and hide either with them, or in that closet that was there -- and be quiet. I'll come back for you..."

With that -- Markus' grip was off her body and he was gone. Unheard. Passing the knives, he pulled a second, a smaller paring knife from the block and then moved to the door again. His eyes opened slowly and the static sparks crossed his lenses. Inching out of the door slowly, the stainless steel frame didn't make a noise. His mind recalled where everything was to a disgusting, yet exact science. Low to the ground, Mark nearly walked on his hands and feet, shuffling with bare, silent footed steps toward where he remembered the little kid was.

He froze.

It was between two things; that cowboy without manners had found something sharp to run into, like a dumb ass would -- only the skilled should be moving in this thick of ebony. The man sprawled out, from the sounds, but Markus didn't move. Still and silent.

Groans came from where the child had been, but a sappy, liquid sound seemed to be smeared between fingers -- dripping, even. His pulse quickened as his eyes raced back and forth, trying to catalog the sights from earlier. He would remember. He would see the faint glow of the monitor and some cables from where the static was still discharging -- their cool frames, slowly dimming to reveal more than the nothing they had before. However in the dim glow, the liquid gave a faint reflection of fingers moving. Markus squinted, "Hey kid --" he whispered, "-- you awake?"

“DIRECTIVE.”

It was a twisted word, garbled and seemingly struggled to be put by the electronic sounds that the machines sometime had produced. Marcus, the cowboy, they would hear the faint buzzing of the machines as they closed in and entered the room.
It had to be six or seven of them from the sounds of it, and they weaved through the medical bay positioning them selves very carefully.

It was a machine like precision, as well as the simple hunter killer programs that was placed n the little machines since their invention. In reality those who created the robots implemented this directive as a humble, and desperate last line of defense a way to buy the humans some time to get away.

Simultaneously, the lights on the chassis of the six machines flicked on illuminating the beast and the area around it.

The Nurse bot was by Marcus, and a large thin light was shining from her base that was next to his feet. Her head would swivel over and look at him “DIRECTIVE.” she said as if reminding him of his task.

The machines would react accordingly. If the creature moved they would keep the lights on it, if it ran, they would give chase, if it tried to destroy them they would initiate a coordinated defense.

The various machines had little ways, they could shock it, or even stab it with their various tools.

“DIRECTIVE.” Chimed in again from the resident electrical bot as it hovered near the ceiling a few feet behind the creature. rushed forward, baring a tiny mechanical arm that had fired off a welding torch in an attempt to braze the beast and get it to release the girl from its grip.

She woke.

If it could grin, then it would have one plastered across its frightening face. It was so much better when the victim was conscious.. that way it could enjoy her screams of agony as it tore through her body and devour her. The tip of its black tongue moved between her fingers when she touched the saliva on her body. It’s tail would tighten about her chest and neck as it drew her body just an inch away from it’s own. A back leg stretching out to curl around her calve as it balanced from the ceiling with her body, as its jaws started to part further and graze the tip of its fangs across her wrist it paused.

Someone was in the room with it and the girl, the creature hissed lightly against her skin as its head and tongue withdrew and its clutches on her body grew just a bit tighter. Its mouth parted as though it were going to answer the man that smacked into the floor.. but it was silenced by another’s voice.

More food.

Selfishly the creature pulled the girl’s body against it’s, it wasn’t going to have her taken away from it. She was it’s now.

But then, as the tiny bots swirled into the room pats Mark and the cowboy their lights flickering on to shine at the
creature. The beasties tail tightened to the point it could accidentally suffocate the girl to death as it hissed and snarled with fury at those lights being shined towards it’s sensitive eyes.

It’s clawed feet dug into the wall and ceiling as the blasted bot came up behind it with the torch. However its attempt to get it to let the girl go would be in vain as its tail snapped away from her body, allowing her to dangle upside down by the one leg it had a hold of.

Its tail would move almost in a sling shot motion as it slammed into the robot that burned it..its two front feet clawing its way across the ceiling as it moved away from the girls bed and more towards the center of the room with the girl still in it’s grasp.

It would let out an ear piercing sound in anger towards the bots, it hated those things, those pest that could never stay out of it’s business.. always there to ruin things!

The creature snapped it’s tail viciously back and forth, causing the girls body also to sway back and forth.

And in an instant, Natalie's blood ran cold. Something-- something long, slender, warm, and covered in that same sticky, gooey substance slipped between her fingers. It was at that moment that the realization came to her, that something absolutely horrible was about to happen. As quick as she could, she snapped her hand back away from the tongue, and held her arms tight against her chest, forearms crossed over one another, as she instinctively tried to curl up in a ball-- but one of her legs wasn't moving. It was caught by something . . . but the creature . . .

There were others here, too. Who, she didn't know for sure. Why, she didn't know either. She'd just woken up into this nightmare, after all-- a nightmare that seemed to hold no rhyme or reason. There were curses, there were shouts, someone calling for a kid-- shouting for her? And then the lights. Lights flashing and blinking, and robotic noises everywhere. They all seemed to converge over a very short period of time-- which, in Natalie's state of terror, felt like they had all come at once.

Then she saw it. With lights flashing against its body, and with her face just inches from its face, Natalie could see almost every little detail. Groggy delirium demanded that it was a blur, but in the end that didn't matter. Either way, all she could do was stare at this nightmare in wide-eyed terror.

After all, it wasn't like she could scream. She couldn't even breath. Natalie couldn't distinguish it, though. Yes, it hurt. It hurt like crazy, but so did everything else. This was a horribly painful nightmare. Painful and terrifying. If the muscles in her body weren't quite so ill-prepared for this, she would have been shaking all over. That workout came in an instant, though, in tandem with the ability to breath, as she was suddenly dropped. Gravity took hold, and Natalie shut her eyes tightly, expecting to fall and break her head open on the floor. That didn't happen, though. Instead, she dangled in the air-- and even moved. The beast still had a hold of her-- of her leg, specifically.

It had been so long since she had used her vocal chords. They might not have even worked at all. She tried-- goddamnit she tried. But they didn't work. All she could let out were hollow shouts, nearly silent to the ear. Screaming would have been useful right about now, but things just weren't going to work out that way, it seemed. She tried, though-- again and again, she tried to let loose all the tension upon her vocal chords, but truth be told, there was none. They were still inert, and currently refused to vibrate.

And so, in the end, all she could do while she was dangled left and right was hold her arms against her chest as if hugging herself for security, and dipping her head down (or up, rather) towards her body, eyes shut tight, muscles tensing when they could-- with a weak, yet terrified whimper escaping her lips all the while . . .

Action is what ensued as the moronic bot advanced on the beast that lurked in the night and fire touched it's body. The swing of taut, strong limbs seemed to shatter the little bot and the glow of the other's bodies illuminated the room in a pale blue haze, in which Mark's eyes narrowed and befell the strange, enormously ugly beast. His eyes would flicker as the mind reacted, instinctively, his frame commanded the sack of flesh by neurotransmitters, rapidly firing off and the left arm reared back. While the beast was insulting and hissing at the bots for the rude interference, Mark's perfection acted. This moment, among others that would soon follow was precisely what the man was bred, born, and raised for.

His left wrist snapped so hard that the sound of the wind off his fingers would have created a whiffing noise, yet nothing would be seen. Such precision, such power, such dexterity pulled off as an expert marksman would -- the small, thin paring knife silently raged through the air. Each movement of this beast, calculated. Each motion of the Scout, anticipated. His tail had come back, and forth -- twice, in the same manner. And as it came back again, it should find a very angry paring knife. It was thrown at the base of the tail, in hopes to cause a muscle tear and render the tail useless. This would free the girl.

Markus then stepped up, waving his empty left hand -- keeping the right behind his back as he snarled viciously. Acting as the animal would, the animal did -- Mark would salivate and squint his eyes in a challenging maneuver. His body hunkered, slithering as the beasts did. His feet danced across the cold floor and the bots moved to keep things illuminated. Markus pointed at the girl -- then to himself and roared, "She's MINE!"

The rage that filled his eyes; the dominance that was exuded off his frame; the very nature of the beast being assimilated and absorbed by the tyrant, crazy-of-a-man, now challenged this thing to uphold it's hierarchy and skill, it's power -- and without a tail, hopefully. Raising his hands, Markus acted larger and bigger in this challenge, threatening the beast to step up and claim his own strength -- his forearm, masking the seven inch, razor sharp dicing knife...

As another voice ripped through the darkness, Johnny swirled around, nearly falling over again, as one foot slightly skimmed the side of the other, but to his luck, the man kept his footing, one hand still firmly placed on his hat so as to not allow it to fall again.

“Well--”

Again, another surprise, as suddenly the automatons of the facility went crazy, finally lights were coming on, although not the ones Johnny would have preferred, but they were good enough for now and not only that, they illuminated the beast, the thing that Johnny had heard earlier, but not quite what he was expecting. No, actually. It was quite far from what he was expecting.

“The fuck is--”

Another interruption came as Markus went wild, roaring and proclaiming that the girl was his, started his combative dance, as strange as it was, the cowboy, as he was apparently known, couldn’t help but laugh. Everything that was happening was stupid, beyond comparison.

Perhaps the man was going crazy or simply didn’t value his life, maybe he found humor in the situation, or the chuckle was a defensive mechanism triggered by absolute terror. Nobody would probably ever know.

Now, Johnny wasn’t an amateur when it came to a scrap, his favorite bar was a hub of traffic for certain individuals and the man had more than his fair share of run-ins with them, but this was on an entirely different level. Whatever the beast was, it wanted the girl, it refused to give the child up, and it didn’t act like it was overly stupid or lacking intelligence.

“Huh,” Johnny shrugged as he instinctively took a few steps back, now having enough light to at least maneuver without falling over. “I coulda sworn that kid was dead a-while ago.”

A peculiar thought rose to Johnny's mind, as he continued moving, although this time he wasn't stepping back, but inching forwards. He wasn't trained for this, that was for sure, but he wasn't going to run either. He wasn't quite that much of a bastard. Regardless, he couldn't help but wonder how it had gotten in here, the machines were quite alarmed by its presence, obviously, but more so--Johnny was concerned by what would happen once the girl was no longer in its possession. After all, then it could move.

Still, Markus didn't seemed all that concerned by it or what it could do, at least not enough to not charge madly towards it. The cowboy, on the other hand, was moving slower, but with a goal in mind. Instead of unskillfully attacking the thing, a feat that seemed, naturally, Markus' forte, Johnny would, instead, follow in the other man's wake and see if he could either snag beast long enough for it to be killed, grab the girl, or distract the thing long enough for the child to get out. Ultimately, it didn't matter which he succeeded at, or whether or not he'd have to do any of the above. All that mattered was that the thing was stopped.

The torch brazed the beast’s hide, but unfortunately it would have to sit their and actually to do anything more then a minor burn on such a hardy creature. That long powerful tail snapped out and smacked the disk shaped bot on it’s flank sending it tumbling through the air. It smacked on the ground, but its light did not flicker as it managed to flip it self back over and take to the air.

Intelligence was not a factor, this was credence for the robots. Their directive, one that ran constant at all times was they would never harm or allow to be harmed a human being. This meant that regardless of what the humans thought of them, they would with great zeal and disregard for their own safely defend them from all threats.

The others in the room were unable to scale the walls, but they reacted harmoniously with the two men in the room. Staying clear of their respective paths, but keeping those lights firmly lock onto the creature at all costs.

Indeed the creature didn’t seem to be very wise, but then again it also hadn’t expected to come against a human that had more skill than the ones it had killed and ate before. When the blade did hit its tail, it snagged in the base between the strange makeup of its body. Though it didn’t sever all the way through, it was jammed.. the hyde of the beast was to strong for the blade to go all the way through. But it did wound the creature, and cause a strange blue blood to squirt out. However, in the attempt to get the creature to drop it’s treasure.. did fail.

It jerked it’s leg back from the annoying pain in its tail, which in turn caused the girl’s body to literally jerk back as though she were just a rag doll. Its attention however was on the man that threatened to take away its possession. Though, it seemed that this creature may have a bit of ADD as its attention shifted from him and to the robots and then back to him again.

It’s mouth opened wide in a snarl of sticky saliva as the man claimed the tasty yummy as his. If the beast could laugh it would at the human. But it could only snarl it’s displeasure as its tail flickered from side to side.. only not as viciously as before, due to the knife.

The cowboy would be completely ignored as it now watched the man the way a snake would a mouse, its head slowly swaying from side to side with each movement the man made, even if it was mimicking its own.

It’s grip upon her leg would tighten, its claws dug into her soft flesh as it created a vice like grip around the very bone of her leg. However, it did not harm the bone so to speak.. but if she were to be ripped from its grasp then it may very well break that bone.

It’s tongue lolled out the side of its mouth and curled in the manner of an index finger would.. temping this man to come forth and calm its treasure, its yummy.

The only way this human was going to get its tasty back, would be to pry it from its cold dead claws.

The longer this went on, the more Natalie became aware of the situation. All the flashing lights allowed her to see more of what was going on around her, despite the fact that the lights so soon after she woken up hurt her eyes to no end. But that was a minor inconvenience, comparatively. More important was the fact that she was dangling upside-down, and the blood was quickly rushing to her head. The girl was feeling extremely faint, what with all this blood going to her head and the terrifying situation she'd woken up to . . .

Things were happening. There were two people in the room, and mechanical things with flashing that illuminated portions of the room sporadically. Natalie couldn't really keep up with what was going on, only that the creature's claws on her leg hurt worse than anything else she was currently going through, and she felt like she were going to pass out.

"H-help--" she whimpered as her eyes shifted from one man to the next-- but it was, instead, the cowboy that caught her attention the most.

He was not trying to seem large and intimidating to the creature, and by extension, made the frightened young girl that much more afraid! There was a brief fear of him, too, as he had declared rather righteously that she belonged to him-- which wasn't exactly what she needed to hear during this sort of situation! Nonetheless, it was the other man that seemed much easier to trust-- someone she saw vague details of in the flickering light. While still keeping her left forearm vertical across her sternum, Natalie weakly, shakily even, reached out with her right hand--

But still, she couldn't do much more than whisper. "H-help-- help me . . ."

With the things grip tightening on the child, plus the knife really doing nothing apparently - Markus was running out of options. Grabbing one of the bots by what would have been assumed a shoulder, he pulled the brightly illuminated robotic pal closer, to give him more light on the creature to figure out what the hell it was. Markus was normal again, noting that the beast thing didn't really have an ego problem and the taunting failed.

So did the cowboy in this situation. He wasn't really doing anything but falling over shit like a jack ass. Mark pointed at the beast for the robot and spoke carefully, "Close and bright, keep this thing illuminated, but we need it brighter over here. We need to watch more closely! Move in, bots! Surround it!"

Markus moved closer to the monster, within five feet now and prepped his footing for evasion as he juked forwards and back, like he would reach out for the kid at any time and snatch it from the beast to see how it would react.

Navigating the med-bay was a pretty easy chore, although a chore none the less, but still, with the flickering lights, the man was able to move from one dark spot to the other, watching his footing now, having fallen once, he was not about to repeat the mistake again. Indeed, it was to his blessing that the creature remained, intently so, focused on the obvious threat.

Markus was a trained soldier, his tactics and strategy at the moment were questionable, but he was trained. He was obviously intimidating and had drawn first blood quickly and precisely, the creature knew who could kill it. Johnny, on the other hand, was no where near as threatening and did not really garner much attention, if any at all. It seemed as though he was being ignored, as he moved around the creature’s side, as best he could, staying behind even the robots with the lights, all the while, the man kept his cool by keeping his mind on the objective and reminding himself that if the thing bled, it could very well die.

It was about time for Johnny’s gambit, his chance to catch the monster off guard, especially now that Markus was directing a new attack, a far more coordinated one than before, although his previous attack would, in fact, help the cowboy perform his own maneuver.

Johnny was a man who paid close attentions to weaknesses, it was one of the ways he made his living, aside from farming, he could find something, poke at it, twist it, and eventually it would break. This creature had an obvious weakness, even to the untrained eye. Before, its tail swung with more violence, aggressively, even. Markus, however; struck the tail with a knife, a knife still lodged into place and it would, most likely, not be coming out of the wound anytime soon.

Johnny was not a large man, by any means. But he was a full grown human male, he weighed just the same as any other man and with its injured tail, especially with the knife apparently having struck at its base, the creature should not have been able to withstand the young girl, the very force of gravity, AND Johnny’s weight. Even without the wound, such a thing should have been nearly impossible, the creature looked no heavier than a human, although perhaps lacking fat and increased muscle output, but still, it didn’t appear to have the ability to warp reality and its height was about the same as Johnny’s. Likewise, with the increased weight on its hind end, the chances of the creature suddenly, violently, or swiftly getting away with the girl were slim, at best. And if it struck out at Johnny, a risk the man had already figured would happen; Markus would have his chance to do whatever it was that he was supposed to do.

The cowboy did, however, rely heavily on the fact that Markus would be quick enough to react to the situation, especially if the creature decided to turn its attention on the new attacker. Johnny wasn’t quite ready to die just yet, but he was willing to bleed and considering that the creature’s tail was spiked, it was something he readily expected.

There was only one thing left to occur before Johnny could make his move.

The creature had to be within reach, he was more or less in a blind spot, assuming it really was ignoring him and didn’t have eyes in the back of its head. Hopefully, the lights from the bots would be enough to coax it into reach, go after Markus, or whatever. Regardless of what occurred, Johnny would remain out of sight, out of its mind, and at any moment the chance arrived--he would grab onto the creature, using every fiber of his being, and hold it for as long as it took.

Obviously, Johnny's strategy was different than Markus' strategy. It seemed like Markus was going after the girl alone, perhaps even risking to break the bone the creature was holding in its grip. Johnny, on the other hand, was going after the monster, which, by proxy, would also free the girl. Likewise, Markus would, perhaps, have an inkling of a thought as to what Johnny was planning, that is if he wasn't solely focusing on the creature, disregarding his surroundings.

If the girl was paying attention, she would see the smallest gesture, a finger held close to lips, as if signaling for her to remain calm and quiet.

Though the lights did not hurt it, they did annoy it and anger it and even made it hard to see. So the cowboy’s movements would go unnoticed, how he inched closer went unnoticed. But it wasn’t just because of the lights, it was also because Markus was successful in keeping its attention on him and the robots. The bots would inch closer, shinning their lights at the creature as though it were a stage holding a performance. It hissed and snarled, its grip unrelenting upon the girl’s leg.

The cowboy would get his chance to bleed; though it may be only a few cuts or slashes from grabbing hold of it’s rough and jagged hide. His attempt would be enough to throw the creature completely off.

The moment his weight pulled on the creature’s body and dislodged its claws from the ceiling was the very same moment all of the power came on.

All of the lights flickered on at full force for five seconds before they all shut off again. Outside, Jodie, Christoph and Olivia were working on the generator.

The sudden blinding lights sent the creature in a wild frenzy as it was pulled from its perch the girl would be released but not without consequences. When it did release her and it fell from the ceiling, it’s upper half would indeed land almost on top of her and its tail on the cowboy.. but the tail would snap off due to the knife that was still embedded in its base.

The tail would thrash and roll off to the side and into the shadows, disappearing from sight. While the beast now bled, it rolled away from the girl.. forgetting the desire it had, the desire to eat her. It was now filled with a consuming rage and pain followed by a slight blindness. It flopped viciously around the floor its claws scratching against the ground as it tried so desperately to attack the human it was most angry at.

Though it couldn’t exactly see, it had a faint memory of where Markus was, and it wanted his blood. The creature howled, a horrid sound that would be uncomfortable to the ears as it crushed any bots in its way, in its attempt to attack Markus from the ground.
