(there will be more than four people in this topic, we'll all more than likely end up in here or in the next topic after this. Continued from Blackout.)

The power returned however the lights in the facility seemed a little bit dimmer, and the computer never came on to Mark’s request. In truth if the computer was able to power on, it more than likely would blow the system sky high and ruin the repairs that were made outside on the generator. The power to the facility was barely running at 15% but it was enough to use what they needed. However the other three that went outside were still out there and their status was unknown to anyone who’s on the inside. Every sort of equipment in the med bay would be working to full capacity, however for example if someone were to turn on one of the overhead lights above the beds the lights in the ceiling would flicker and dim, since the source of power would be adjusted.

The carcass of the beast would remain dead on the floor, though whatever was within the frame of its skin had dissolved. If it had organs they were non-existent now, if it had a brain it was no longer there. And even though the tail had made it away from the body, it would also end up melting in the same sense as the body had. All that was left was the outer casing of the sky and its fluids.

It left behind that eerie feeling, that these people were not the only things that were left on earth. That there are creatures, and they are hungry.

“Yeah, maybe we shoul---”

Before Johnny could finish speaking, a man had burst through a wall, he looked the part of a doctor, but his eccentrics spoke differently, along with barking orders as though he had been here from the start. This was most definitely not what they needed at the moment; in fact, Johnny had instinctively moved to shield the girl, fearing that another monster had made its way into the facility.

“Hold your horses, you--”

And the man retreated into the darkness, from whence he came and just as suddenly, Johnny felt a surge of anger. Who the fuck did this guy think he was, really? He came in, barked orders, and then left? When it came to getting the other materials, it would have to be Lucy, because Johnny wasn’t about to lie down and play dog for a stranger without explanation. It just wasn’t happening.

“Oh hell naw,” the cowboy barked after the vanishing man, although in vain, it would seem, as he had already fully disappeared from sight. Dismissing the man, rather quickly, it could be added, Johnny looked back down to the girl, who was becoming increasingly coherent.
“Are you okay, girlie? Can you walk?--Wait,” Johnny refocused his attention back on the doctor, who was still nowhere in sight, apparently. “Did, did he just back flip before? What?”

Clearing his throat, Johnny once again dismissed the missing … Man. He had no idea what to say now, after all. Regardless, what he was really asking Natalie was if she needed to be carried and if she said no, he would help her to … Wherever the doctor had left, most likely Med-Bay 2, the area he had woken up in, since Med-Bay 1 was well-trashed and damaged.

The angels eyes opened. Scared, confused, it instantaneously broke Lucys heart. She continued to stroke the girls face, tending to stray locks that littered her forehead. Feeling as though Markus made a good attempt of telling the child what little they knew, she calmly added. “You’re safe sweetheart.” She patted the little girls arm and turned to Markus, her hand still tightly clutching his.

A nod in agreement was all she offered to his first statement. But it was his warm breath cascading down her bare flesh that cause her to shutter lightly. She gnashed her teeth at him playfully, and mouthed two words..Damn you...With a deep inhale, knowing now wasn’t the time nor the place she nodded to him once more. “Yeah, I can sew you up, it’ll prolly hurt like hell though, even for a big man like yourself.” She wore a self satisfied smile as she tugged lightly on his hand in the direction she wished to go.

“Lemme get you cleaned up and shit, then we can venture back to the kitchen. That creeped my ass out for sure.” She shivered again, but of course, it was a different kind. Just when things seemed to have calmed down, something burst through the wall and Lucy wrapped herself around Markus. When she realized what, or rather whom it was.....she was pissed.

“What the fuck is wrong with you man!?" Her grip on Marks hand tightened, she wanted to punch this fucker in the face! After everything they had been through, dudes lucky jumping out of a wall didn’t get his ass stabbed, or worse.....

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Once in the med bay she patted a table top. “Take a seat cupcake.” She winked at Markus and moved around him to assess the damage more closely. “Damn, you are tore up. I can do this, but it’s gonna take me a bit. Least whenever you look at the scars on your back, you can think of me.”

Without a laugh or a wink she was off digging though drawers and cabinets and whatnot, gathering all the things she needed to put this man back together. Soon she deposited a pile of things beside him on the table. “This is going to sting some.” She cleaned the wound as gently as she could. Her already broken heart broke more so now at the sight of the ribbons of flesh that hung from his back. “You need to be more careful, I need you in one piece.” She whispered to him quietly while preparing a fine curved needle. “Ready for this? Deep breath, and try to relax.”

Offtopic: Didn't we start off in the med-bay? lol.

Having looked to Johnny, Mark shook his head slowly and before he could say anything -- some dumb-fuck came flying through the wall and began spouting random idiocy at people as if he was some captain or someone in charge, however -- funny thing was, the man didn't come from any cryo-casing like the rest of them did. Fuck just showed up and grand-entranced through a wall ...

Markus thought the validity of his entrance was a little moronic, seeing as the government didn't spend billions of dollars to ensure the future of humanity by building walls out of drywall for the exact reason this retard 'supposed' burst through one. The man rambled and pointed and then ... seriously ... back flipped out of the hole he came through. Mark paused.

Mark looked to Johnny.
Mark looked to the little girl.
Mark looked to Lucy.

"What ... the fuck."

* * * * *

Mark sat on a table as commanded and looked to the cowboy and the little girl who were on the other side of the room and he shrugged, "Until a real doctor gets here, I think we just need to get her onto one of these tables." The gruff survivalist waved his hand to one of the tables before shooting a glance at this fine-assed nurse that he had, and gave a warm smile. Her hunting for supplies already seemed to make him nauseated, on top of the blood that he'd lost already and this feeling of space-sickness from being locked away for so long. His eyes closed and he breathed deeply -- no anesthesia...

"Yeah... just do it, babe."

Underground? That was the key word she heard. The girl shut her eyes again and tensed her features. The light still hurt. Everything still hurt--especially the back of her head. Her right hand was lifted and set upon her forehead, rubbing her temples slightly. She'd never been underground before, and highly doubted that the gruff sounding man was telling the truth. Nonetheless, she didn't recognize any of these voices, and that really put her off. One man speaking with a sort of Western-esque accent was a little comforting, though. Why, she couldn't be sure.

And then, something happened. It was hard to tell what, exactly, even when she opened her eyes to look. Natalie wasn't able to see the display. It was a blur to her. At some point, there was dust and it was harder to see, but certainly someone had told them to go to a medbay--whatever that was. The name of that, a medbay, it sounded like something out of a science fiction movie.

Whatever the case, the blur now closest to her had asked if she could walk. Natalie groaned. She tried to sit up and move her legs, but a pain spread through her thigh, the thigh that the creature had been holding onto earlier, and her head almost simultaneously, sending her back down in paint.

"I-- I . . . don't . . ." she whispered, trailing off at the point of saying, "know . . ."

Which was a less decisive way of saying that she could not, in fact, walk.

As he had guessed, the girl wasn’t quite to the point of walking, but the man figured it had been worth the try--the more she could do by herself, the better. But if she couldn’t walk, there really was nothing she could do about it.

“Okay, well don’t you worry about that,” Johnny assured her, tucking an arm just underneath the girl’s knees, his free arm would be used to support her back, and she would be comfortably lifted from the floor. Of course, Johnny also took special notice to her injuries, making sure that he did not aggravate them at all.
“The area the chick and I woke up in had a Med-Bay,” Johnny announced, shifting his focus to Markus and Lucy, the latter helping the former with his injuries. “I’m gonna take her there, reckon there might be some medicine for her pain, or … See if someone is there that can help.”

Shrugging, Johnny and Natalie would set off to the other Med-Bay, it wasn’t that far of a walk, really, and Johnny somewhat knew which direction to go--from having walked the path earlier. Markus and Lucy could catch up just as soon as they finished, as the cowboy wasn’t walking particularly fast, not with his having to worry about another person hurting as he walked.

Off Topic:
My next post won't even include them walking, as I'll just auto the distance between Med-Bay 1 and Med-Bay 2 to avoid fluff in my next post.

With the toe of her shoe she pushed a trash can over closer to him. “I’m sorry if this hurts.” The needle, tiny and sharp had a hard time penetrating his tough exterior. The sickening pop of the needle finally shoving through almost made her vomit, but, she would remain strong knowing good and well he wasn’t feeling one hundred present, no matter what facade he was putting on.

Her nimble fingers made quicker work of it then she thought she would be able to. And, she thought it actually looked pretty good. “All done hero.” She kissed his cheek with a bit more then a quick peck. “You did better then I would have done. How are you feeling?” He looked a few shades of green, she was so glad she hadn’t received any injuries.

“If there is something I can do to help you be more comfortable, let me know.” She doubted he would take anything for the pain, not that she found anything, but still. The feeling of helplessness was more then annoying.

“Whenever you feel like going back and checking out the kitchen, I’m down.” Only cause he was going, to hell with going alone. She leaned against the table beside him, palm down on the table top by his thigh. “That poor little girl. It’s almost sick that her family would do this to her, no matter the opportunities it might make for her. You know she has to be scared as all hell. Surrounded by strangers....how do you think she will react when it all hits her. Everything she’s lost?”

Her eyes met his, and tears stung her eyes. They had all lost, if they admitted it or not, but she, that little girl, was the most innocent of them all. It hardly seemed fair. The most important thing she had going for it: it seemed as soon as they all lay their eyes on her, they loved her. She’d be taken care of, at all risks it seemed. That fact, bothered Lucy none, in fact, a smile soon covered her porcelain features.

It all couldn’t have been a bad dream and sick twisted maze of fear and apocalyptic confusion but it wasn't it was real as reality gets. Even the constant pound of a Migraine beating over and over again in her head was real.....sadly

Dante Ran a Hand through her crimson read hair, it was bothersome to be in this kind of predicament with no way out. Her hand ran over the hard metal examining table of the Med-Bay. It was an eye sore from her normal office, all chrome with not a speck of comforting photography or poster of some sort. She had rummaged through a few drawers finding all of the things she could use for a simple check up and more drastic operation. Gauze, scissors, tongs, even to the smallest ban aid it was here, but was anybody else beside her self actually here and IN need of medical attention. She was angry, upset confused and did she forget to mention angry. she growled to herself meekly and leaned against the wall

" Nothing to see, No one to save, and nothing to poke.......great" she slide down until her bottom rested on the floor putting a cool palm on her face she began trying to think clearly of what happened and who brought her here.

The pain of the sutures was a little over ridden by the fact that there were nasty gashes running down his back. The alcohol swabs to disinfect caused him to pull hard and arch against the touch, while his teeth gritted hard enough to bite through steel. He sighed heavily, his tanned skin a gentle pallid shade but he rolled his shoulders and flexed his back, taking in the pain and transferring it to cognition alertness and grinned.

"Thanks, doll. You're not too bad at that." He started.

"You've all lost. Family. Friends. Whatever else, but that's why I'm here. That's what my part of this mission is -- to ensure that there is no more losing. No more losses.

Eventually, it will come to her understanding that her parents aren't around any longer, but like you and I -- we knew when we took on the assignment, what would happen. I don't think she would have been forced into something like this, though I don't really understand why, beyond breeding purposes, that a child her age had to be sent back with all of us."

The man's features were hard as he stared at the ground talking, and then slid from the table, looking to the cowboy and the girl with a bit of a smile on his lips, "Not that we don't like you here, lil' peep -- just, it already seems to be too dangerous for us, let alone, you..."

Mark moved to the door and then turned to the group, "Lucy ... stay with Johnny. Make sure his scratches and cuts are taken care of and then the girl as well -- I'm counting on you. Someone needs to figure out what the fuck is going on with this generator. The lights are dimming back and forth -- I thought we had an engineer on board..."

As more of an order, one to keep Lucy occupied and her mind off things, and another - because she needed to be with people Markus then turned and jogged out of the med-bay. His bare feet cascading across the cold floor as he made his way down the hall and back to that main blast door in the center room where the fire-crotch had disappeared off to in the first few moments of awakening in this hell hole.

Sid had been well fed and he was now in the gun room checking out all the weapons and came out of it loaded with bullet,s missiles, and guns. The nice kind oozis, glocks, and a desert eagle magnum. He felt like that guy in the shoot em up games kids in his time were so consumed with, "Duke Nukem." Sid was in love and he strutted out of the armory and into the medical bay but as soon as he entered it and saw all the in the beds and a horrible looking creature. Sid's mouth dropped open, "WHAT THE FUCKING HELL IS THIS THING!?" He pointed the desert eagle at the creature unsure if it was dead completely and shot it a few times to make sure. He loved the feel of the work of art of a gun firing the power it exuded made him grin.

Sid looked around and saw no one in the beds and thought it was strange, he left out of the medical bay and went next door and saw 4 people in beds. "Oh geez... What did I miss?" He lowered his head and holstered the eagle.

Evidently whatever happened he was oblivious to because of the sound proofing in the armory and the black out seemed like only a blip to him once the lights had come back on. Adorning his head was a high powered head light strapped to his head via a helmet. With it turned up on medium high he peered through the medical ward to see those who were injured during the attack. "Is everyone accounted for or are there others still topside?"

Natalie winced as the man lifted her up. Part of her was tempted to squirm and try and get away from him, specifically because he didn't sound anything like her father, either of her grandfathers, or uncles. No, he was without a doubt a stranger, but that part of her was subdued before the squirming reaction could be initiated. This was a stranger that had helped her, probably even saved her life. The notion that her life had been in danger had yet to kick in, but feelings often betrayed memories.

Before the cowboy started out, the gruff man had said something to her specifically. Before, all Natalie could hear was a dull, gruff voice, but now, things were starting to come back in. Well, in and out. Sometimes she could hear people beyond the man carrying her, sometimes she couldn't. There were bits and pieces she heard before, but not enough to pick out exactly what he was saying. It had something to do with them not minding her being there, but that it was extremely dangerous for her--or something along those lines.

And then, Johnny, carefully carrying Natalie, started out--shortly before the other man arrived. To where, she couldn't tell. So far, the only details she was beginning to see were of the cowboy's. The blur that comprised him now had a discernible skull. Looking up at him with a dazed expression, Natalie spoke again. It was the first thing that came to mind, but it was still important.

"What's . . . your name . . .?" The question was posed when the cowboy was carrying Natalie through the halls alone--before anyone else caught up, if they even intended to.

Johnny and Natalie had already left Medical Bay 1, in fact; he took off just as soon as he said he was going to, halting only long enough to pick up the girl and carry her away. In order to stay with Johnny, Lucy would have to hurry and catch up to him, assuming she left to follow the man just as soon as Markus had taken his leave.

The walk itself was calming, allowing the man, and, possibly, the girl to wind down after the earlier event. He did his best to avoid too much aggravation to her wounds; his steps were slow, paced, and measured. The majority of the walk would be in silence, as well, at least until the girl finally asked the cowboy what his name was:
“Johnny,” he replied to the girl, smiling down at her, although the smile itself was forced, he had no genuine happiness about the situation, but he figured being grim and stern wasn’t going to help anything.
“What about you, girlie,” he asked immediately afterwards, slightly shaking his head, readjusting his brimmed hat, which had slightly become lowered on his brow. The futility of the task wasn’t entirely lost on the man, of course, but he couldn’t very well prop the girl up against the wall, could he? Regardless, it would only be a matter of time before he reached his destination …

_____________

The cowboy shuffled into Medical-Bay 2 with the young girl in tow, watching his footing, taking note of his surroundings, he wasn’t about to let anything else sneak up on him, or the child. He had enough surprises for the day, thank-you-very-much. And yet … There seemed to be another person in the room, this time a woman, who looked particularly perplexed about something, but Johnny did not ask what out of fear of striking a conversation he had no interest in holding.

“Uh,” he sounded, looking towards Natalie, almost as if giving off a plea for help, but eventually re-focused his attention on the woman. “H-howdy?”

Announcing his presence, the cowboy made his way to the nearest examining table and sat the girl on it, figuring it would be more comfortable than staying held above the ground, in his arms.

The man, however; would not await an answer from the other person in the room, instead, after setting Natalie down, he’d begin his search through the various cabinets, checking names on bottles, finding bandages, clean towels, alcohol, and generally making a mess of things. Really, though--he was looking for something specific, something for both his pain, and the girl’s. Simply finding the materials needed to clean a person's wounds, though, that was a plus.

If anybody had said anything to the man as he was going through the chore of finding what he wanted, it went ignored, unless they specifically called out to him for his attention, and in fact; that may not have even been enough to draw him away--the only voice he was specifically looking out for was the girl’s, Natalie’s.

Breading purposes, christ...she’s only a child. There had to be some other reason this child was here. Maybe to keep the rest of us grounded. Her eyes were now locked on the child. So was so beautiful as she lay there helpless. Lucy had a feeling that little girl wouldn’t have much to worry about while she was here. Let alone someone touching her for breeding reasons. The thought alone caused Lucy to shiver.

She felt Marks hand leave hers, and then his words. With that, he was gone, and so was her feeling of safety. Her gaze lingered on the door longer then it probably should have, and slowly turned to the cowboy. He had the girl securely on the table, and her tiny voice stole the show.

A wide smile eased over Lucys face, and she moved to the side of the child and Johnny. The conversation between the two was short and sweet. The latter warming her heart. “Hey there sweetheart, I’m Lucy. I’m glad you are feeling better.” Again she fingered the little girls locks.

Toss her gaze at Johnny she still held true to her smile. “How are you feeling?” Markus said you had some cuts and what not? I’ll take a look if you’d like.” Her voice was calm and relaxed, her thoughts mostly on Markus, hoping she was wrong about the kitchen, and that he didn’t run into another one of those things again while he was alone.

"N . . . Natalie . . ." she replied in a whisper. Her friends called her Nat, and under different circumstances, she would have declared that outright.

Johnny had come in, holding Natalie, with Lucy following behind. Prior to Lucy joining them, Johnny had addressed the doctor, a woman Natalie couldn't see very well, before placing Natalie upon an examination table. It would've been a confusing chain of events even if she had not already been disoriented.

Nonetheless, despite her disorientation, Natalie understood her current state of undress, and was absolutely not cool with it. She had someone else's shirt covering her, but she wasn't actually wearing it like she would have preferred. So, while Johnny carried her, she made sure to hold it to her chest, and upon laying out on the exam table, she made sure to keep holding the shirt against her chest.

"I-- I don't know . . ." Natalie whispered following Lucy's question.

There was a little too much going on, and Natalie was way too disoriented to understand it all. Lucy and Johnny were blurs, and she couldn't even see the doctor.

"I don't know . . ."

And the idea of someone sticking her with a needle right now was far from appealing. So, Natalie refrained from repositioning herself for Lucy. The doctor Johnny had addressed just a moment earlier was going to have her hands full with this girl . . .

At this point, the door into Medbay Two would open, revealing a somewhat sullen looking fellow with bent glasses, messed up ear length silver-blond hair and a sullied white lab coat. Upon the coat was a sticky note, upon which he had written the phrase (in pencil) "Dr. Smithson". He seemed about 40 years old, and about 5'10, with a fairly average build for his age. He swirled around a small toothpick protruding from his mouth and coughed out a sarcastic chuckle. "Hello, everyone. Nice to meet you. Heh. Happy birthday to me. I get to sort out whatever the hell just happened around here."

With that he would begin quietly whispering diagnostics drawn from initial sight of the two most wounded in the room, Johnny and Natalie. "Multiple contusions, multiple lacerations with risk of infection, possibly toxicosis. Cranial trauma with chance of complication by subdural hemotoma. Contusions require a cold compress for reduction of swelling, and soothing of pain. Lacerations need possible sutures, styptic, a compress and gauze to prevent bleeding. Trauma requires rest, elevation, general supervision. If toxicosis arrives, anti-toxin must be applied, and if hemotoma appears, surgery will be performed."

With that, he would solemnly gaze at the wounded individuals, and ask very intently: "First of all, how the hell did all of this happen? Second of all, are we still in danger from whatever caused all of it? Third, and finally, Are there any others injured? It would really help to know these things before I get to work." He would then go over to a sink and begin to wash his hands, ready to get to work.
