The Games!

The most important aspect of this event is, by far, the games. There will be five total, just as I mentioned in the announcement. The list, as before, goes like this:

1. T1 mild powers beach volleyball.
2. Swimsuit contest.
3. Cook-off.
4. Campfire stories--horror, specifically!
5. The fifth event is a secret, and will be disclosed at a later date.

As promised, this thread exists to better explain the rules of these games. First and foremost, I'll go over the general rules. Two events will run simultaneously at all times. The volleyball tournament, which is bound to be the longest contest, will go on at the same time as the swimsuit contest. Following the end of the swimsuit contest, the cook-off will commence. Following that, the camp-fire stories. Once at least three of the four main events are complete, the fifth and final event will be unveiled.

1. T1 Mild Powers Beach Volleyball Tournament

I'm sure you, faithful reader and roleplayer, are wondering at this moment: what the fuck?! And that's perfectly okay. If you have yet to think that specifically, please do, just to get it out of your system!

Now, here's how this game will go:

There will be a total of four teams of two players each. That means no more or less than eight characters will partake in the first round. This game cannot start until there are at least eight players. More can join, however, but will take the sidelines unless another player in mid-match is disqualified. If a player is disqualified and there are other players available to take his or her place, one of those players will be called in to replace the disqualified player.

There will be a total of four players involved in each match. The first round will consist of two matches, and the final round will pit the winners of the first round against each other. Players A and C will be one team on one side of the net, while players B and D will make up the other. Posting order, by default, will go like this: A, B, C, D. If 48 hours passes without a post from a player on his or her turn, he will be skipped, and if the situation allows for it, the offending team will take a point by default. If any one player is forcibly skipped a total of three times, he or she will be disqualified, and if a backup player is available, he or she will take the disqualified player's place for the duration of the tournament.

Most importantly, you can pick your own partners!

Now, as far as how T1 and mild powers fit into this . . .

-- the ball is indestructible.
-- the net is indestructible.
-- you can use powers to effect the ball only on your side of the net.
-- you cannot control your powers beyond your side of the net.
---- that does, however, all you to throw uncontrolled projectiles from your side of the net at the other, to possibly throw your opponents off. However, once anything passes the net, you can no longer control or manipulate it.
-- if the ball goes further passes the net for over 40 feet without touching the ground, the attempt is null, and the defending team is permitted to serve.
-- an offending team will score a point if the defending team fails to keep the ball from reaching the ground--and vice versa.
---- for this reason, I highly advise against geomancers and the like, as their power could wind up causing them to lose.
-- the first team to score a total of ten points wins the match.

2. The Swimsuit Contest.

The official Dystopian summer swimsuit contest will work much like the cook-off.

You can use any character, male or female, and you are charged with wielding mastery over descriptive language. There is no minimum or maximum number of entrants, and you will only make one post per entry. Your post will entail a description of your character in a swimsuit. Your challenge is to be as creative and/or tantalizing as possible, without blatant disregard for public decency. Once all entrants have made their posts, it will be come to a vote. Entrants and observers (readers) alike can vote, but entrants are forbidden from voting for themselves.

-- you may have your character strut, if you like.
-- you may have your character act in some way to boost appeal.
-- or you can just rely on raw description, if you like.

3. The Dystopian Summer Cook-off

This will perhaps the most delicious game of all! Just like the swimsuit contest, this game is a matter of descriptive properties.

You will be charged with having your character cook a dubiously delicious dish that would be in character for him or her to prepare. That means a Cizokian (Asian) who's never been out of Cizok or eaten non-Cizokian cuisine is not going to make a New Xexorian (American) dish. Please keep this in mind as you consider your entrant! It's important that you're in depth with this, which means we, as readers, should know what your character's putting in there. It's not required, but it is highly suggested that you write out the process of your character making this dish.

There are no minimum or maximum number of entrants for this game. You will make one post per entry. Once all entrants of posted, it will be put to a vote. Tasters (readers) and entrants will all be able to vote alike, but entrants are forbidden from voting for their own entries.

4. Campfire Stories

While this game is somewhat similar to the swimsuit competition and cook-off, as it requires only a single post from each entrant, the way these posts will work are vastly different than the previous two competitions.

In this game, you will be posting as your character telling a cadre of listeners-- entrants and various other listener characters alike --a single campfire story. The prime difference here is that these stories must be written in the voice of your character. If your character has a dialect or accent, for example, it should be prominent in the narrative. If he or she has difficulty maintaining attention on one subject for too long, for example, he or she should digress from the main subject matter every so often, at least briefly. The main emphasis here is that you're writing from your character's voice.

There are no minimum or maximum number of entrants for this game. You will make one post per entry. Once all entrants of posted, it will be put to a vote. The most creative entry, ideally, should win. Listeners (readers) and entrants will all be able to vote alike, but entrants are forbidden from voting for their own entries. And as a couple of important notes:

-- you can break from the narrative in mid-story to post actions such as your character pacing or what have you, but any breaks before, during, or after the story must be brief, so readers will not lose focus upon the story itself.
-- campfire stories can only be 100 to 750 words long.
-- these stories should be horror, as far as genre is concerned. You are not limited to their sub-genres, however.

5. ? ? ? ? ?

This game has yet to be unveiled!
