The War Academy of Dachinst

Postby Nayt on Sun May 09, 2010 9:15 pm

The War Academy of Dachinst is an impromptu experiment set up at the finality of the Dirige's first invasion. It was founded in the Darokin outskirt city of Dachinst by the Reapers' shadow organization, "The Drunalan Empire." The "Empire" was established by a certain Dirige administrator as a means of covering up their purpose within Darokin. It is a Dirige statute that the truth of the afterlife must remain a mystery to the living. As one of their most enforced statutes, a workaround had to be managed for an all out invasion. All Reapers arrived under the guise of soldiers of a budding empire from an otherwise unheard of western continent.

The people of Dachinst are well convinced of the Empire's existence, and are extremely welcome of their occupation of the city, a much more peaceful occupation than that of Darokin's, when nearly every citizen of Dachinst feared for their lives that Shenfald might have them "drafted" into the army for any sort of wrongdoing.

The Empire's occupation of the city has been mostly peaceful, as scarce few individuals of the city had any love of Darokin, and the Dirige Administrators in charge of the shadow-Empire only have enough care to maintain peace in the city, if only to make it easier to hold the city against the might of Darokin. In public, Reapers are expected to affiliate themselves not with the Dirige, but the Drunalan Empire. Failure to do so and any sort of implications of the Dirige's existence will likely result in the deaths of either the Reaper, the informed individual, or--most likely--both.

The war academy itself was founded mostly as an experiment, but one from which the Reapers in Darokin stand only to gain. Rather than bringing in more physically and spiritually capable Reapers and drawing away from those at work in other parts of the world, the academy draws in many new recruits. Recruits (all over the age of twelve, minimum) are sent directly to Dachinst to be trained in the various arts of war. Reapers in Dachinst are expected to eventually excel in both physical and spiritual power, and unlike Reapers of the past, are trained to become soldiers more than they are to become simple Reapers guiding the dead.

The ultimate goal of the academy is to train enough bodies and minds, both young and old alike, to perfect the arts of war, and with this lead a successful campaign upon the Voleur d'Ame nation of Darokin.

Location

The academy is housed in a former university within the city of Dachinst. It was once a prestigious university, built to house and teach thousands upon thousands, but ceased function several years back, when Shenfald had most of the faculty killed and reanimated into new draftees.

The structure itself is built with old west Algerothian architecture in mind--Classical architecture, for all intents and purposes. The main university is tall and spans several inter-connected buildings up front, with a large campus behind academic halls, mostly boxed in by surrounding dormitories. Reapers live in these dormitories, all separated by age group and gender. Reapers from 12-17 (children) both attend the same classes and live in the same dorm halls, just as individuals from 18-24 (young adults), and individuals 25+ (adults). The difference between the 25+ group and their youngers, however, is that the 12-17 and 18-24 groups are separated by gender, as well. All individuals twenty five and older live in co-ed dormitories, and are granted much more social rights than the 12-17 group.

Military training

Every weekday, all trainees/students--children, young adult, and adult alike--are expected to be awake by sunrise. They are then expected to join their respective dorms in a morning run about the parameter of campus. Failure for one member of the dormitory to partake in the morning run (without prior consent) will result in the punishment of the entire dormitory. Trainees' schedules are then broken up individually, based upon age group. Children will go through three hours of training per day--an hour and a half of physical exercise and an hour and a half of spiritual exercise--followed by academic courses. Young adults will go through five hours of training per day, and adults will go through a full seven to eight hours each day.

This excludes weekends.

Academics

Whilst the academy is built to train potential soldiers of all ages, there is also considerable value of intellectual training in the children and young adult groups. Academic based classed are, too, separated between the two age groups. Adults have no academic courses; young adults have much less academic courses than children; and 50% of a child's schedule will be populated by academic related courses, such as reading, writing, history, and arithmetic.

Failure in the categories of academics and military will result in punishments unique to the individual.
