Unearthed Legacy

Greoul suffered extensive damages during the two month period known all over the world as "the End." While the island nation between the eastern and western continents retains its primary natural resources, traces of civilization have become rare.

Mana? Oh, right. Saqin mentioned something about that before. There was a power source that existed on this planet long before Saqin and his brothers arrived.

That, however, did not explain the brief glint of power Xibtrae felt. She tensed up, turned her head to the side, and looked off into nothing. It would probably be clear to even Val that Xibtrae had felt something--but lacking the ability to sense mana, it was most certainly something closer to home for her.

Spirit.

Few things in the universe had such powerful spirits. Even in this world, it was very rare to find someone with a natural spirit of excessively high caliber.

"I agree," she said, her voice low and . . . serious, actually.

She didn't reach up to touch her scythe, but she seemed now as on-guard as she was when Val first brought her to this place. And with good reason . . .

Val nodded. She wasn't even terribly good at sensing mana; if the disturbance was evident even to her, then it must have been a big disturbance. Xibtrae needed to get back to her body right away.

Taking up her staff in both hands, she held it horizontally in front of her and closed her eyes in concentration. "You who answered my summons, be bound by it no more," she intoned, her voice low and far more serious and composed than Xibtrae would have yet heard it. Then she twisted her staff so it was pointing straight up and pounded the bottom of it against the floor.

Xibtrae would feel an invisible current, one tugging her away from this place, and back to the world she belonged in...
