Demeanor: Yuuka is undeniably playful and rambunctious. More often than not, she's outside. Yuuka hates doing most things that require her to be inside for any length of time. Exploring is her number one hobby, which generally entails getting a bokken and venturing outside the Tetsuken estate, to places she hasn't seen before. Although she does not need anyone else with her to have an excuse to go outside for any reason, Yuuka still misses her time in school, when she had friends to spend time with. At any point when she can get someone to spend any length of time with her out of the house, she'll habitually become as instant as possible.
She's fairly utilitarian, though, which is the primary reason why visitors to the estate often confuse her with a boy of the same age. Yuuka prefers the less dressy kimonos of men (or boys, rather) and cuts her hair extremely short, for example, giving her a fairly ambiguous appearance while clothed. Only her voice betrays this. As a young utilitarian, it all has a purpose: it's easier to run in a boy's kimono, and the less hair on her head, the less hair she'll have in her face when she's on the move. The least distractions, the better.
Nonetheless, Yuuka can be mischievous when it comes to her brother--and nosy, for that matter. She has scoured his room more times than he's actually slept in it, always looking for things like love letters and and the like--but always coming up empty. As mischievous and nosy as she seems, though, Yuuka does mean well: Daisuke, after all, has a habit of disregarding other people, and in Yuuka's opinion, he's gone far too long without romantic companionship! And so, she takes it upon herself sometimes to try (and fail, more often than not) to set her brother up with a girlfriend . . .
History: Yuuka was born and raised in luxury--yet despite this, she has always chosen to live outside, where she can be with something natural . . .
For the first seven years of her life, Yuuka was enrolled in school. At the time, her family had the money to afford her and Daisuke's education. There, Yuuka maintained a fair degree of popularity--and infamy. For some time, she was known for punching out the biggest, toughest, and nastiest boy in her grade. Contrary to popular belief, though, it had nothing to do with her lineage; Yuuka was simply a brave enough individual, and intelligent enough to know that slaps do nothing, but a well placed punch can do everything.
Money was tight once Daisuke enrolled into the Manarina Mage Academy, but the family still had enough to put both children through school. But tragedy struck when Daisuke and Yuuka's father was ordered to take his own life. The once prestigious and well-taken-care-of Tetsuken family fell from the good graces of the Shogun, and all the money that remained coming in was from Chizu Tetsuken's side business alone. Yuuka was too young at the time to understand what happened, or that her father was even dead. It wasn't until years later that she finally understood--but so much time had passed that she could barely muster the ability to cry about it. Unlike Daisuke, she didn't know her father very well.
After awhile, though, Chizu started to run out of money to pay for the services around the houses--maids and chefs and the like, and soon enough, she couldn't afford Yuuka's schooling anymore--even after Daisuke's was essentially paid in full. She had to be pulled from school and kept at home, where she always lingers away from, dreaming of far less confined spaces . . .
