Akio is a very quiet, intelligent individual, he never speaks when unnecessary and he always thinks before he acts. At most times he seems to be unemotional. Akio derives no pleasure from combat whether it be sparing or taking a life, he looks upon it as a necessary evil in the world that must done in his duty to the Shogun. He also believes that those who take a life have no right to be considered heros and applauded by the people, in this way, he resents your typical samurais and himself. He believes that Samurai should be more humble and serve the populace instead of rule them.

Akio has been serving the nation of Cizok since his fifteenth birthday, he started as a low foot soldier, not fit to carry a katana. He proved his valor and intelligence as a young soldier, helping his superiors to plan out strategies and help with troop movements. Through deeds alone Akio earned the title of Samurai and by his eighteenth birthday he found himself among the elite of the nation.
Life was not how he had imagined it, even though he was a Samurai he was not on equal footing with those that were 'born' with the right. Akio began to dislike, even hate the Samurai he had idolized growing up. Akio began learning the style of Niten at this time as well, using his keen intelligence to defeat his foes.
Akio gained renown through deed alone as he was dispatched on 'suicidal' missions. Each time he proved his worth by not only surviving but doing so with minimal casualities on both sides. This was how he gained the respect of the normal soldier. By treating them as equals Akio was always able to rally the men under his control and lead them to victory in countless battles.
At the age of twenty two Akio was elevated to the title of Kensai, a true honor for anyone. But to a man who came up from nothing and had come to hate the general Samurai populace it meant little. He was not pleased with how the army was being run and how the common folk were supposed to treat Samurai. Fed up with how things were being run he retired a mere two years later to a home near the mountains.
In his mountain home he remained alone for several more years, offering to teach those who wish to learn. But not in Kenjutsu, instead he taught the common follk how to read and write, educating them. Akio was considered a hero of the people by the people.
Since the rebellion Akio was called back under service of the Shogun. Now back in his previous position Akio finds himself at times killing the very people he belonged to, the very people he taught.

Niten no Kenpo : There are many styles of wielding two weapons at the same time, some promote a pure offensive style and other boast an undeaftable defense. Akios specific style lies in the middle of the road while mixing in Kenpo. The Wakizashi, with it's shorter nature is used for pure defense while the Katana is used to attack and Kenpo to throw the enemy off balance and strike when least expected. The style requires an extremely ambidextrous person. Akio is capable of using each hand indepently of each-other (Ex. Fight two people at once with each weapon on opposite sides of him).
Eidetic Memory: Akio believes the mind is more powerful then the sword. It is always with his mind he is able to defeat his foes, the katana is merely a messenger. Akio does not forget a battle or a single persons face he has ever met. In battle this serves to remember an opponents movments and styles.
Precognition: Unknown to Akio he possesses the ability to see the future which is why he has been so succesful when commanding troops and fighting. These visions often come in the form of his nightmares or what he has dubbed as 'muscle memory' when fighting, his way of explaining why he is able to act so fast. (If there are any characters capable of detecting psionics Akio would be an easy target to detect.)

Nightmares: Because Akio never forgets the memory of those he has slain they always come to visit him in his dreams, torturing him while he sleeps (Note- This is all an illusion created by his mind. It is a way he subconciously deals with the guilt of taking lifes).
