"Oh. I'm Johnny. I came from Xexoria. My favorite food is peanut butter..."

He answered his own questions next, for lack of a better idea of how to talk. It had been many, many years since he'd had anyone new to talk to... Since he had been a preteen, in fact... It certainly made anyone from the upper world exotic to him...

"We could go ask one of the others for... Whatever you're looking for..."

Johnny knew where they were, but they were approaching the edge of town. The dwellings of the other men were scattered around, and some kept more than one, especially towards the edges of town. Out here, the light was rare, barely enough to see the paths between the areas. It was free of scarabs, however, for the same reason that they hadn't infested what appeared to be several city blocks...

Coincidentally, Ishi was a preteen--perhaps about the same age as Johnny since the last time he talked to someone new? That wasn't important, though.

"Pirrs," Ishi remarked, "I am rook for pirrs for Con-stan-tine."

It was a horrid mispronunciation, and there was a good chance that no one was going to understand what she was looking for. Truth be told, Ishi didn't quite understand herself. She had seen pill sized medicine before in her life, but she didn't know what they were called. Pills. She hadn't heard that name before, and that didn't appear in any of the mythos she had been reading before she was sucked back into the action again.

Speaking of which, she had it in her right mind to request a copy of those mythos and a Common to Cizokian dictionary. And some better light, so she could go back to reading while waiting for something to happen.

The halls were like a maze anymore, and she could barely see a thing. After awhile, Ishi started to slow down. Johnny might very well wind up leading the way for her after that. Ishi didn't know where she was going anymore, and it seemed like there wasn't just a single straight line for her to walk anymore. And she was a little delirious after blood loss. It was stopping, slowly but surely, but not without making the already weary girl that much wearier.

Johnny seemed a bit nervous as they walked, though he didn't mention why. Notably, there were fewer and fewer torches, and yet... There were occasional footprints in the scattered sand in the alleyways. Here, the ceiling seemed less tight, letting small slow streams of sand particles, perhaps serving as a good reminder of how much sand was above them...

"This isn't a good place..."

On close inspection, the sand patterns marred by small lines. Hundreds, thousands, perhaps even millions of them. Tiny insect leg marks... Nothing could be seen. However, there was another set of tracks of note. Two, in fact. One set the size of a man's, and the other track the size of a woman's...

Ishi didn't really look up at all, not for the entire venture. Looking up had no bearing on her "journey." Nor did Johnny's concerns. She was armed and dangerous, after all! Nothing short of scarabs would be a problem! Right?

Naively, she didn't recognize a difference between the man and woman's footprints, only that there were actual footprints. These could be dutifully followed, and upon reaching the source, she could perhaps ask the person about pills for Constantine. Tracking down other people in this society, as much as she didn't really want to, would help her find these holy items--somehow. If they even had such things!

"I ask them for pirr," Ishi declared as she pointed down to the foot prints and hobbled forth, continuing to stab the sword into the sand to use it as a makeshift walking stick--for the sake of balance, to make up for her bum leg.

Johnny was a bit more accustomed to life under ground, if perhaps not significantly more mature. The footsteps were... Strange. One set he recognized, but the other set... He didn't. Or at least, he wasn't familiar with them...

"They... Might, but... We should go anyway, I think."

Johnny couldn't quite explain it, but he felt they needed to go that way. It wasn't really a pleasant feeling either, but again something he couldn't really explain. They just had to go...

"Doushite?" Ishi (impolitely, in her language, though no tone suggested it) asked as she came to a stop.

Ishi worked a little so she could turn and face Johnny. She wasn't getting spooked or anything--but he was. He lived here, right? Why should he be spooked while she wasn't? What was he worried about, bad people? Ishi thought about this for a moment, and withdrew the short sword she had collected from the hole she'd carved into the side of her over-sized shirt.

"No worry for bad people," declared Ishi as she waved the short sword in front of her--not feigning an attack, just showing that she did, in fact, had a weapon.

Unfortunately, her broken Common made it difficult to understand the real meaning behind what she was saying. This, for example, could have been her telling Johnny not to worry about running into bad people--or telling him to not worry for bad people, if they were to run into them. These both carried two completely different, and relatively accurate, connotations.
