Crimson Destiny(Modern-Fantasy)

Remembrance of ages gone by, the people of the land across ages of past and present remember only war and then a span of peace. The war of ages had gone on for what felt like centuries only to end suddenly when two warring factors had all but wiped each other out. They were stuck in what felt like a time of limbo for many years after the war seemed to cease. Often the people of the wondered if it was the will of the land itself causing the trouble for the two sides and keeping them from battling each other once more and forcing them into a time of peace. The area they were battling each other becoming so stained with blood that the soil itself was red in coloration instead of an earthen hue. Trees no longer with leaves of green, but forever red making forests in the area being notably crimson. This brought with it a change in the whole balance of nature about the area. Nothing would grow again, due to the abnormal amount of bloodshed.

That very bloodshed did end eventually after the time of limbo finally ended showing that if they fought again, they would be placed back again, these two warring factors. The people soon would combine as one people instead of being separate. The land itself was split into two parts. A large forest country stained crimson and a land of lush plains and lakes with the plains themselves growing wildly. The people of the parts had no wish for monarchy or anyone to rule the lands for fear that one day another war would spark again and further stain the lands crimson just like the large forest was and its waters would show. The road to ruin seemed possible as the reach of the crimson color seemed to rise greatly. The reasons were unknown to this. Was it possible the spirits of nature and the power of elements be corrupted by the bloodshed?

Echoes of chaos reign in the crimson hue that spreads out across the land. Legends told however of an object able to appease the spirits of nature and the power of the elements should chaos rise ever. This object being in the size of the smallest crystal hidden somewhere where no one would ever find it unless a time came it was needed. That time appears to be now. The paths to this crystalline object have also opened. Several caverns once sealed off by mysterious energies and magical powers now opening one by one, but leaving within them untold dangers that might leave hints to this crystal needed to halt the spread of crimson. The only way to find these mysterious caverns is through the moon illuminating the way. Should one be inside when the sun rises they are trapped until the next moonrise. It is the only way the path is open and closed, a sort of safety mechanism placed by ancient powers.

Illumination be the name of the moon that rises in the air eternally over the forest of crimson and the land that has seen so much war. The destiny of the land be not in the tale of war, but in the hands of those seeking to reveal its destiny either in destruction of crimson or revival from a tiny crystal. Two sides hold the coin, which side shall prevail is unknown. As a side to pick is left to the beholder of their own destiny, the life one lives is chosen upon their own choice.

Elly tapped her foot upon the ground as she chewed on some gum. How dull days had become since the dreams had started to plague her mind. It put a stop to her going forward in her education which really was a big bummer to her. She didn’t like it at all, but if she didn’t obey the dreams. She only got plagued more by them and it gave her really bad headaches. She hated it so much. Her eyes that often held so much disdain for things looked over the courtyard of the college she was attending for the time being least till she was forced to go journeying for awhile. Elly had no clue when she’d be returning. She’d jump down off the wall as she walked to class for now and figured when it would be best to head out on her journey. What she hated most was, there was no mention of anyone else getting the weird dreams popping up in the area. That really made her angry to the point she often cursed the dreams she got.

“Elly, you’re late again. What took you so long to get to class?”

“I was on a wall thinking.”

“Next time, do less thinking and more coming to class on time will you.”

“Whatever.”

Elly sat down at her desk still chewing her gum despite often being told to not chew it in class. She just didn’t care being that often she was a rebel in all of her classes. She passed them with flying colors, so what did it matter if she broke the rules. They couldn’t throw her out long as she did her work. Elly just completely ignored the teacher in the classroom looking outside beyond the campus’ reach where the forest stained crimson lay beyond. Her mind often wondered why she had to go on a stupid journey in the first place to stop the color of crimson from spreading. She knew the stories that it meant certain death for the land itself if the color changed, but why was she one of the selected people? There had to be a reason.
