Yisrael Plot

Postby Iskander on Wed Dec 02, 2009 10:03 am

So, I s'pose it's time I opened this up to the general membership here.

I'm currently running plot in the Yisrael continent that's focusing on the return of the Yuurei. At first (ie: right now), they're pretty damned limited in numbers. The Yuurei Vanguard, as they call themselves, will be attempting to restore the entirety of the Yuurei Empire (properly the Holy Empire of Yerushalayim). Whether they succeed is entirely up in the air at this point.

Yisrael is currently home to four nations: Yerushalayim, Albion, The Valley, and The Twin Countries. Each nation has its own cultural basis and theme, and all are in pretty heavy contact with one another. The three non-Yuurei nations are engaged in an attempt to stop the Yuurei from returning in full force.

Albion is a Germanic themed nation, based on old Britain and the Arthurian mythology, with some twists thrown in to accommodate the interaction with other nations that's occurred.

The Valley and the Twin Countries are both Azn themed, with the Valley being Chinese (with lots of undead), and the Twin Countries being Japanese.

Yerushalayim/Yuurei themselves are mostly old school Mid Eastern/Israelite in theme, with some basic Azn influences in the language.

Anyone is free to create a character in any of the three non-Yuurei nations, and Yuurei characters are fine if they're okayed by me. :3

Questions should either be asked here, or sent to me in the form of a PM.

... Do you say this like Yuri?

Cause ... that's scary/creepy.

And what are you looking for? Antagonists, Protagonists, Final Fantasy-esque people to cruise with you?

It's properly pronounced as You-ree, with a very slight rolling of the r. Everyone I've talked to just pronounces it like Yuri, though. >_>

I'm looking for people to be going up against the Yuurei, really. Not sure if they count as protagonists or antagonists yet. ;) We'll say protagonists, just to be simple.

You-ree? Huh. I've always pronounced it yur-ray. Don't know why, but it always came off to me as the most exotic pronunciation for them.

Nonetheless, I could very well take part in this, but I doubt I'll play a main character. For now, all the plots I'm joining, I'm joining as side characters as needed. Drop me a PM if there are any roles for side characters in your plot, Lew--and if there are, the types of role you're looking for in 'em.

Will do.

The Yuurei call themselves the You-ree, but it all depends where you are on the continent really. People near the capital use the standard pronunciation, while people in the provinces would use bastard pronunciations based on local dialects. It's entirely possible that Yerushalayimites near Albion would say it Yur-ray.

The Yuurei (Empire) are Gaia-worshippers convinced that if they can finish The End and wipe out the current existence, Gaia will create a paradise for them where they'll live in perfect harmony and prosperity, and all non-believers are either to be put to the sword or tortured into converting.

Basically, Spanish inquisition with the goal of killing every single non-believer, and hopefully making the world go boom, so their god will come and make it all happy time for them.

It's debated within the Empire whether every non-believer has to die, or if the world itself needs to be destroyed, before Gaia will come back and make their paradise.

Protagonists are always good.

As a warning to anyone getting involved: There is, as always, a chance that PCs will die. At the very least, there's a high chance of PCs getting the short end of the stick, a lot. If you want/need to have your PC always come out on top, this is not the plot for you.

So, time-line wise. This takes place how long after 'The End'?

Also.. I don't believe you answered Zachs other question, what exactly are they? For some reason I have the idea there bug-like people, Praying Mantis-ish, which Im sure is way off. Not sure why I think that though... o_0

It's hard to describe the Yuurei, since their empire is actually very multi-racial.

"True Yuurei" are androgynous (no sexual organs whatsoever) humanoids, of average human shape and size. Edija are bugs, and come in a large variety (there are ant-like warrior forms, mantis-like jumpers, beetles, dragon flies, etc). Oushi are ogre-like. There are Elves and Dwarves and humans, etc. If a species exists, the Yuurei are willing to recruit/convert them.

Timeline wise: It's a few months after The End. Long enough for the areas formerly under Yuurei control to think that they're free, but still fairly close to The End itself.

Bug people! haha I was right.

Well, provided Shin survives his current ordeal with Nate I will probably use him in your plot.

Coo' lol.

And yeah, the backbone of the Yuurei military is the Edija.

As a note on the names: The race names and personal names are almost always Asian type, but always pronounced with Hebrew pronunciation.

Some of it has actually started already, notably in the Twin Countries.

It'll rev up a bit as people get characters ready, and get themselves ready. It probably won't be an overly fast paced plot, though, since I'm fairly relaxed about posting, so individual bits of plot can start whenever people are ready. :D And since it's such a wide-spread plot, taking place across the largest continent in Dystopia, there's no pressure for everyone to stick in one place.
