Luna Crying

Small villages run by anarchists, religious fanatics, or those who just wish to live off the land, it is a place ravaged by time and nature. Wicked fauna and flora alike form monstrous habitats out of once peaceful ground, but the ever-present human threat lurks ever-present on civilization's mind.

We’re staying to fight, the priest said. She assumed he was a priest anyway. Scripture quoting and biblical allusions were not completely common in laymen—at least not to the extent of his precise accuracy.

As Ira lay down between Penemue and Gabriel, a strange look overtook his face. It must have been the drugs. Perhaps some hallucination had darted across her face because he was staring at her. Maybe he was just trying to figure out who she was. Penemue had no idea that his experience with outsiders had been so negative as to immediately expect the worst from one.

When Ira handed her his MA rifle, her stomach clenched again. She nodded in response to his orders and looked to the window. “Short controlled bursts,” she repeated. Before she moved, Penemue took a moment to acclimate herself to the new weapon. She considered its weight, briskly examined the ammo, and looked down its sights. She could do this.

The wall beside the three was riddled with gashes and bullet holes. “Should we take cover in another building?” Penemue nodded her head in the direction of a nearby house. “No holes in that one.” As she spoke, her eyes never left the window. She was their cover now. Considering that she may have to help Ira move again, she slung the rifle’s strap over her head, but her aim was still focused on the outside in the event that any more soldiers—that bore an uncomfortable resemblance to Ira—moved in.

It was almost like she was in another world, the man fired his gun, the sound echoed through the air and then the bullets slammed into the corner of the building. From the debris her arm sustained a bit of damage from the shattering wood and stone. However there was no pain, no crying out and her arm remained positioned were it was. She moved just enough away from the corner of the building so that she wouldn’t be blown away with it. Despite the close call Aaron remained calm and held her gun ready, she waited for the bullets to stop flying so that she may extend her arm out safely. If anyone walked around that corner, they’d come face to face with a shot gun.

The butt was pressed lightly against her chest near her arm, however she held it with just one arm; the muscles could be seen straining but she was able to hold her arm perfectly steady.

The blood trickled down her injured arm and fell like little droplets of rain to the earth, staining the dirt crimson red. Blood soaked the ground of this town tonight, as the dying lay in their own pool of crimson; the earth lay below them sucking it up like a sponge.

Aaron was aware of her surroundings, she was aware of the gun fire ceasing and she figured there was only one reason for it. Whoever it was, was coming to kill her.. since they couldn’t really see her from behind the building. It was all too perfect.

Her finger sat on the trigger with little pressure, the slightest pull ,the slightest increase of pressure from her finger would fire the weapon.

It would be some real bad luck.. if she missed.

However she did not pull the trigger until the very instance the soldier dared to peek around her corner. Her finger pulled the trigger and fired the gun aimed right to his face.

"How "godly is my throwing arm?" Gabe thought for a second then smirked getting it. "It's pretty "Godly" if I may say so." He responded assuredly. "What've you got for me Ira? a mega grenade or something to throw at these invaders?" Gabe watched Penemue checking out the weapon Ira just handed off to her. "Nice noise maker you've got there "Ma'am." The preacher said admiring the fine gun able to rip through flesh and most things as though it were butter.

He looked back down to Ira and then the Penemue as she spoke about moving to another location. At that very moment Gabe heard a massive explosion from a building not too far and bullets flying through the street just outside the window."Lord almighty what've we gotten into." Gabe for a moment freaked out and went weak in the knees. He quickly regained his composure as sweat poured down his face all over. "My God, my rock, my sheild. Give me the strength I need for this battle. Train my fingers to fight and my hands to make war."

Ira had reached down to the back of his belt and removed another rather generic looking cylinder, with the exception that this one had a handle poking out of the bottom. Ira handled this device as if it was Pandora’s box, and that was with a great deal of patients and care. He removed the “Cap” with his left hand, as he snatched it off Eight rather sharp and jagged spikes shot out into a standing position on each corner of what was now clearly a grenade. He began fiddling with the dial on the very top of it, and then held it out for Gabriel to throw it. “No we are good here.” Ira said softly to Penemue.”

“I’m dead weight, but at least we can focus our cone of fire, GABE THROW THE DAMN THING!” He hissed. He hoped Gabriel would have the sense to throw it at the car that was sheltering the Captain and her men. “When that thing goes off, I want you to take that Repeater and dump it onto them.” Ira said as he hugged his own rifle close to his body and prepared to shoot up and follow the explosion with some fire from his own weapon.

The Soldier poked his head from around the corner, and his entire world light up as that shot gun exploded into his face. His head jerked and he let out a muffled cry of pain as he fell down to the ground and fired his weapon wildly in all directions. The Facial mask and goggles were by comparison lightly armored when put next to the whole of the ANC armor kit, but it could turn back buck shot in some areas. But a point blank shot from shot gun was all impact, and felt much like being kicked by a mule, as well as the stinging sensation of some of the blast actually piercing through and breaking his skin.

He soon fell over on to his back dropping his rifle and rolled around clutching his face

Aaron was rather calm when the man fell and clutched his face, rolling around the ground like a worm cut in half. It was rather comical in a sense and she enjoyed watching him squirm. She felt a sense of joy from his suffering that tickled herself to the very core of her being, and with his hands still on his face Aaron would drop the gun and walk around the other side of the building. She wouldn’t bother finishing him off. Why? Because it was enough joy to watch him cry like a baby. Besides.. she had this little inkling that something big was about to happen and she didn’t want to be where she was at that moment.. unless she wanted to sustain further injury.

Which she didn’t.

So she left the man behind and snuck to the building next to the one she had been standing behind, paying some attention to the fact that he could still get up and come after her.. however she really wasn’t at all worried about it.
