The move was simple and Jaras’s counter was the expected one. It was efficient and text book, which was why The First Mate expected it. Even as his blade was being parried he flexed his knees and prepared himself.
Jaras’s blade would strike only the deck of the ship as The First Mate leapt up and over the attack, his left hand now holding his Main-Gauche, down and ready to deflect any attack angled up at him and with his sword arm out wide there was only one option.
The First Mate sent a snap kick out directly at Jaras’s chest. The attack was nothing lethal, or even remotely dangerous. If anything it was rather foolish as The First Mate was only moderately skilled at hand to hand combat, no where near the caliber he was with the blade.
Regardless he laughed all the while, executing the kick with only enough force to knock back Jaras a step or two if it landed and possibly injure the thief’s pride more than anything.
