Avatar vs Avatar: The Battle to Behold
Setting: High flatland mountain top. (Almost as if this mountain top was artificially or catastrophically created)
Location: On the map of Dystopia, this confrontation takes place on the upper right landmass, well away from any distinct settlement of people.

Introduction:
Sweat poured down the sides of Gen's face and off his brow as he was free soloing his way toward the top of the mountain. The sun beat down on a very glorious day, and while he was a being of versatile abilities, his body reacted to the heat of the sun just the same as anyone else. Some would think that a being who could manipulate electromagnetism to the mastery in which he could, would have found a much easier way to scale the mountain. However not only was the climbing of the mountain a personal request of his True God, Gen also enjoyed the feeling of being a human and in so working his body in such a way that he could keep in touch with humanity. While his counterpart and greatest rival was more assertive and outgoing. Gen was more of a humble being who enjoyed the very simplistic teachings of those whom even though were human, could see past humanistic bounds with great wisdom.

Reaching one of the last handle positions he easily set his position to make the stretch to the ledge that was on the very top of the mountain. Pulling himself up after catching grip of the ledge, he rolled onto the mountain top and lay on his back for a few brief moments. Taking in the sun, and the triumph of reaching his final destination his head turning slightly to survey the rest of the flat mountain top. Interesting, I would have thought he'd beat me up here. Apparently I was wrong. Gen sat up, and then easily lifted himself to his feet, patting off the dust on his clothes. Also enjoying the feeling of his sweat going stale and cooling his body off a bit. Admittedly so he took quite a bit of pleasure in knowing that he had beat Tanso to the top of the mountain. While he would never outwardly project this to anyone, even Tanso, Gen was in fact a competitive soul even if it meant he would keep the pleasure of his victories nestled deep within his own mind.

Stretching his muscles out through various techniques, one must remember it's always important to stretch before and after any arduous workout. While he had beaten Tanso to the top of the mountain, he didn't expect his margin of victory to be by very much. So with the realization that his brother could arrive at any moment he had taken his stretching routine and turned it into a free moving kata of sorts. Not so much a trained set of structured moves, it was an ever flowing ever changing movements that could clearly look like it might have been a kata. With Shodan Kung Fu the emphasis was always on adaptability and fluidity, and thus had no structure to it. Each practitioner learned the initial way, then found their own way. No Shodan fighters were ever exactly the same, while also never being astronomically different either.

It was tasking, this unassisted ascent. The mountain’s face was far steeper than it had first appeared and sturdy handholds were few and far between. Not for the first time since starting the journey, Tanso wondered if Gen’s side would have been easier to climb. Kalen did not seem the type to play favorites, but even a True God had to possess a sense of humor? It had been simple at first, leaping from hand hold to hand hold with relative ease, until they started giving away. That had made things much more difficult. In his haste to climb the mountain side, Tanso had fallen three times. Each fall would have been fatal were it not for his exceptional reflexes. The goggles that Tanso typically kept pushed to his hairline cupped his eyes, preventing any sweat from blinding him. How the eyewear managed not to fog up was beyond him. They had been specially crafted for him by Kalen and Tanso was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Finally, once he had reached the top, Tanso gripped the ledge with firm fingertips and hurled himself up, finding his feet with remarkable energy. Like Gen, he took a moment to catch his breath, but opted to do so by standing upright and interlacing his fingers behind his head. It wouldn’t take him long to stretch and Tanso took the moment to fix his crimson eyes on Gen. Sure, the man seemed humble enough, but Tanso was willing to bet that deep down he was aching to bounce around and gloat. The key difference between the two Avatars was in their attitude. Gen would keep quiet where Tanso would speak. Gen would uphold humility where Tanso would boast. There were no delusions between the two that they had been made for one another; brothers in almost every sense of the word.

Unbuttoning his coat, Tanso let it fall to the flat mountaintop surface in a crumpled pile. It served as mild armor, but also slightly inhibited his flexibility and, despite his confidence, he couldn’t take too many chances when sparring with Gen, Kalen had created them both with an unrelenting fighting spirit. Rolling his shoulders, Tanso tucked his thumbs into his kunai armed belt.

"Dog and pony show? You may be a dog, or a pony. But I'm a brilliant star."

Gen snickered somewhat at his comment, it was completely useless of course, but so was most talking in any fight situation. Only saying it to make his brother ponder its meaning. As per usual he could see Tanso was ready for the business at hand, quickly preparing himself for the fight, and then taking a casual stance as if to say 'come on'. Though he knew Gen better than that, as Gen hardly initiated the combat sequences unless it was absolutely called for. Instead of indulge his brothers cocky swagger, Gen merely removed the needle from behind his ear. "Grow." At his command the small needle grew to its general size of six feet. Tanso had a very similar weapon of his own, a mark that showed they were created equally by Kalen. With his silver Bo in hand he rested the bottom end of it on the ground and almost seemed as if he was leaning on it. This was not the case however. Then fluctuating the electromagnetic field around his body, he reversed the polarity of it so that it would push away from him, ready to repel any direct attack that could very well be controlled by magnetism.

An economical fighter utilizes both offensive and defensive maneuvers, techniques, and positioning. The best of them utilize offense and defense at the same time. It was time for Gen to experiment his theories on his brother. Who knows, perhaps his brother realized this for himself also. Which could only provide more information from a battle between them.

It was evident that Gen wasn’t going to make the first move. It wasn’t surprising; Gen was ever the strategist of the two. He was more likely to stop and observe the situation before launching an attack. Tanso was a little different. Pushing the goggles cupping his eyes higher on his brow until they pressed against his hairline, Tanso pulled a pen sized piece of metal from his belt. With a muttered phrase the small piece of metal expanded into a full sized staff. Twirling the staff, Tanso fell into his stance. It was similar to Gen’s but possessed many slight differences. His body was not as rigid, his feet a bit further apart, his limbs only slightly bent.

Noting the field of electromagnetic energy that engulfed his ‘brother’, Tanso ignited the kinetic energy within himself, a dim glow of crimson light sparking around his form. Tanso was faced with a decision that every fighter eventually faced. What point of attack would prove most beneficial for him? Gen’s electromagnetic energy was remarkably similar to his kinetic energy. A blast from either one would yield in damage, but nothing fatal. Arching an auburn brow, Tanso smiled. Yes, it would be best to set the tone of this battle right off the bat. Eyes aglow with kinetic energy, Tanso fed the energy within his body making sure to utilize the latent kinetic energy all around him. In an instant the glow surrounding him was pulsating wildly growing exponentially. In less than a second it’s size rivaled the dome surrounding Gen and moments later dwarfed it.

In mere moments, Tanso had a swirling mass of Kinetic energy building around him. His ultimage goal was not to harm Gen, but to sweep away the electromagnetic shield he had constructed about himself. He was burning through kinetic energy at an alarming rate, but the beauty of Kalen’s construction was that kinetic energy was almost infinite in supply. So long as he didn’t attempt to funnel the energy through himself he could play with massive amounts. Accumulating a massive amount was not difficult, but attempting to solidify it into a controlled blast would have proved most tasking. Luckily, Tanso was only gathering the energy around himself and nudging it in a certain direction.
Quick aggressive steps put Tanso in the range he needed, the crimson kinetic energy colliding with Gen’s electromagnetic field just as his staff came reached out in a probing ‘stab’. If Tanso’s plan worked, Gen would find his shield stripped away moments before his staff entered Gen’s proximity.

The action of Tanso placing his goggles over his eyes told Gen that all the talk was over and it was time to get down to the fight. Immediately following his brothers action Gen raised his mask over half his face. Protecting his nostrils and mouth from breathing anything in. Gen's stance was in fact not rigid at all, as the very nature of Shodan Kung Fu negated the chance for rigidity. His stance was firm but soft, solid but fluid, capable of moving at a moments notice as he was not tense but ready.

Gen could feel his brother ignite the latent kinetic energy found all around him. Electromagnetism was equally as strong as both forces were not mutually exclusive but instead mutually inclusive. Most people never understand the relationship that these forces shared. Both were in almost infinite supply as they existed invariably in all things. Therefore they were not opposing forces so to speak, though wielders could utilize them as such, instead they were actually forces that could feed into one another--- in one word: complimentary.

Capable of seeing the glowing intensity in his brothers eyes, Gen knew that the attack was soon to come. Instantaneously Tanso had built a field around himself that was rather large compared to Gen's. However the moments that followed while brief gave him just enough time to understand the attack to come, as well as make preparations. Bringing his staff in front of him keeping it connected to the electromagnetic field that surrounded his body. Gen solidified its position with merely his forefinger and his thumb.

As predicted Tanso expanded his kinetic dome outward, and to this effect Gen would use his Tenkei as a conductor to the attack. While the power of the kinetic attack was strong, the problem Tanso faced was the expansion of the kinetic potential left its density weak, whenever a substance expanded the density in which it held lessens to make up for the growth. So while Tanso's attack was forceful, it wasn't going to necessarily make much of a difference to the concentrated electromagnetic 'blanket' surrounding Gen.

When the kinetic energy reached the height of its expansion undoubtedly reaching Gen at an alarming rate. All he did was merely focus on the relationship of the energies as he allowed part of his own shield to be stripped away. First it was siphoned through the metal staff, but as it swept past it seemed as though a ring of red would trace Gen's form effectively shaving off the outside bit of his electromagnetic barrier. It felt eerily like having a layer of clothing stripped off. The rest of the dome like attack would merely pass by him and seem to exit from behind him.

With but only a moment to spare his brother was already upon him with a follow up attack. In the moment that was spared Gen focused the rest of his shield energy into the Tenkei. Keeping the magnetic pull on his staff with his forefinger and thumb. Stepping backward one step at a time with each jab that Tanso delivered. Gen's staff only shifting slightly to block the butt end of Tanso's weapon. Between the second jab and the third Gen swiftly retrieved two hura-shuriken from one of the multiple pouches on his belt. Holding them between his fore and middle fingers, and between his ring and little fingers.

As the third jab of Tanso's staff found its end at the block of Gen's staff, he unleashed his two shuriken reaching out with his left hand, letting the weapons propel themselves toward Tanso. In most instances people would think this attack was aimed directly at the head of the opponent, however Gen was neither this vicious or brutal, nor would he ever be against his own brother. Instead the shuriken were aimed just to each side of Tanso's head attempting to cut the band that held his goggles to his face. The range of the attack, and the dynamic of it disallowing Tanso to move his head to either side almost guaranteed that the goggles would be cut. Though the keyword to that was almost.
