Blissful Indifference

Once a great desert nation, the nation of Xexoria suffered a great loss after the Apocalypse of Utopia. Now an Island nation, Xexoria is going through great changes.

" Angry...no. "

Cambria was by no means a master manipulator, but he had learned a few tricks from the ultimate trickster, Sieg Warheight. He carefully considered his angle of attack in this situation, and a victorious smile exploded on his lips as she transformed, nearly verging on outright laughter.

" The trouble with being, what did we call it? Passionate. Is that if it is my goal is to find out what you are hiding in terms of power, I can easily annoy you into...showing me what you've got, so to speak. "

Cambria refused to recoil under her gaze. He stared directly into her midsection, her abdomen nearly touching the tip of his nose, lost in thought but not ignoring her body. He didn't even have to use his power to diagnose her scent. She smelled like the night. She smelled like cold breezes, and dew smelled and felt before seen well after dusk and equally before dawn.

" You smell like midnight. " It was the easiest way to describe it, and Cambria did not regret allowing himself to lose ground on his strategy by letting his thoughts whisper into reality. He lowered his emerald orbs to his hands once more and loosed the restrictive armored cuffs that covered his forearms, revealing a rare glimpse at Cambria's skin, usually shrouded in armor and black cloth. His arms had thick scars almost up to his biceps. There were not neat injuries caused by the cutting of blades, but they were not so messy and random to have been caused by hooks or spikes. It would be obvious to this primal creature, the origin of his injuries, from their pattern alone.

At one point in his life Cambria had become careless and was savaged by claws before he could react, and it had marked him for life. He allowed the rest of his armor fall off of him, no longer attached to the many interlocking mechanisms focused around his arms, and finally he held up the mask from it's clasp on his belt, holding it up before his face. It was a glimpse of Cambria in his assassin's guise, despite how vulnerable he was at the moment, still clothed in black but absent of his armor.

" So I've seen what I wanted to see. I am left now to grasp at how you plan to convince me not to return to the elemental after you leave here. You'll either need to kill me or be very persuasive. "

The Bocan grinned as Cambria spoke. She tilted her head to the side in a manner that looked alluring and yet predatory. She traced her bottom lip with one long sharp fingernail before speaking, chosing her words carefully.

"You see what I want you to see, when I want you to see it. I can be anything, anyone, and do so many very naughty vicious things. I don't need to prove myself to you, because if I did you would bring me someone to rip apart. You wouldn't offer yourself, knowing that I have orders to sway your...opinion of us." Amara reached out with her claws and traced the claw marks on Cambria's arms. Her touch would be feather-light and it was obvious that she wasn't intending to hurt him. She had a greater arsenal at her disposal than her claws, and his face was still a breath away from her thinly covered belly.

"Midnight, hmm?" Amara stepped back, away from Cambria and walked around the room. Her feet were bare and delicate despite having walked countless roads in search of prey. She trailed her fingers along the wall, scratching here and there when it suited her purpose. She turned to Cambria when she was far enough away as to be out of his reach entirely.

"Midnight is my favorite time to hunt. I was born in a field under the midnight stars on a moonless night. I am a creature best kept in the shadows of the night." It was strange how her sharp teeth didn't mangle her tongue or her lips, and it was strange how she didn't lisp when she spoke around such a mouth full of razor sharp knives. The thin dress was almost a joke as it draped over her thin muscular frame. She was a huntress and the dress was a frivolity that she didn't need -- but it was alluring at the worst of times, and as she moved she was aware that her body was skimming along just underneath the fabric. It would be enough to at least create a curiosity for Cambria.

"Persuasion is such a fun technique." Amara stood by the door, looking every inch a fey creature with her wild hair and skin -- with her white dress falling off her shoulders and her brilliant amber eyes. Those eyes seemed to cut through even the darkest shadows and she smiled, revealing her dainty sharp teeth. She was on Cambria in the span of a single heartbeat, not touching him, but even closer than before.

"We could help you learn your powers. I could guide you down paths you never knew existed. I could tempt you with riches and powers and things quite unimaginable. Or...you can have me. I can be at your call at any time you desire, for anything you desire." Amara slowly reached out to touch Cambria's face, her nails skimming gently along his skin. It wasn't a rushed movement in an effort not to make him react forcefully.

"Think on it. We are capable of helping you understand and learn your powers. As for the other things, well..." Amara grinned impishly and winked at Cambria. "Let's just say I hope you consider my other offer."

Cambria didn't have any objections, how could he? She wasn't as well-mannered as he would have liked around humans, but she hadn't spent a lifetime around Sieg to learn how to deal with sentient prey as a ruler rather than a predator. But it was pleasant, to see a monster not so refined...allowed to live freely and dangerously. The question weighed heavily in his mind. Cambria had never dared to imagine that this avenue of study could lead to his freedom from his Master. He wasn't even sure if that was what he wanted.

" So far, I've liked everything I've seen...you might even say I dream seeing more. "

He breathed in her scent again. Even as she paced it was unnecessary to focus it, despite it not being very potent. He could smell the cool night air on her, despite the stuffy temperature of the firelit bedroom. " Midnight is my favorite time, the air is so much more enjoyable to manipulate after dark. "

There was a hesitation in his thought process. From what he had heard and discerned from what he hadn't about the man in charge on Amara's side, he worried about what would happen to his way of life if he took the next step with this Bocan toward that man. He wondered if taking that step would be one away from Sieg. But as she placed her hand on his face, he instinctively reached up to hold it there, and leaned forward to lean his head against her skin. A draft of air billowed up around them, flowing through the loose black cloth dangling from his from without the usual support of his armor. His inhibitions melted away, and he spoke a muffled promise, knowing he had only planned to be abroad for 5 days.

" I'll give it a week...but if I follow you into this life, will you be made to follow me or do so of your own volition? I will keep no slaves, but I am not interested if you don't go with me. "

Cambria's skin felt warm, lucious and delicate. His words created a stir in her chest as she looked at him, her amber eyes taking him in with little effort.

"It would be my choice. My services belong to King Pendaran, but I am free to give myself to whom I desire. That is, of course, assuming that it doesn't interfere with his plans." The Bocan laughed and it was a pretty sound, like a tinkling of chimes in a midnight breeze. She ran her thumb along Cambria's cheek gently before lifting her head and sniffing the air.

"Really? She's intent on having you." The lock rattled softly, and any normal mortal couple wouldn't hear it, but these two would clearly know what was going on. "Just go along with what I'm about to do."

Amara took a deep breath and, as the lock clicked open, her form shimmered slightly and she took up the form she had before. A delicate but curvy creature. She roughly pushed Cambria back on the bed and she put a finger to her lips as she listened carefully. She straddled him and put his hands on the straps of her gown. Amara glared at Cambria for a moment before shaking her head and laughing.

"Just go with it." She breathed as she leaned down and kissed him on the mouth. The door swung open and there was the girl. She looked stunned for a moment but she was obviously holding a knife which clearly glittered in the firelight emanating from the room. Amara straightened enough that Cambria's fingers on the straps of her dress caught and tugged the garment sharply down over one shoulder. Her breast was threatening to show and if he tugged she might end up far more naked than she had planned. It wasn't something she was prudish about, and she could make more clothing materalize on her form if she absolutely needed it -- however at a time like this it was prudent not to show her powers.

"I don't think you know when you've lost. You don't want to use that knife, girl." Amara said, her voice taking on a dangerous edge. Cambria would be reminded of the sharp teeth and claws that were evident weapons, but now the Bocan hardly looked menacing as she leaned half naked over him.

Amara leaned back some more to get a good look at the girl, her dress almost groaning at the pressure being put on it by Cambria's hands.

"Really, you don't want to do that." As the girl took a few steps into the room Amara groaned and ripped herself out of Cambria's clutches. She dropped to a crouch in front of the bed and between the girl and Cambria. Her dress was ruined, shredded by pulling away from Cambria's powerful grip. It fluttered uselessly around her hips and leaving her completely naked from the waist up. When the girl let out a horrified chirp of fear, Amara leapt on her, wrenching the knife out of he hands and throwing it in Cambria's genera direction.

As her eyes flashed amber at the girl beneath her she grinned.

"Really, girl? Go before something unpleasant happens to you." With a savage shove Amara threw the girl into the hall, letting her hit the wall fairly hard. Amara walked to the door and shut it, locking it and bolting it carefully.

"Well that takes care of that." Heedless of her nakedness Amara walked back toward Cambria. She was comfortable and completely used to walking around naked in the woods when it suited her needs. It didn't cross her mind that Cambria might find that strange or sensual at all.

There she went again, being obtuse. Cambria wondered why Amara didn't play well with others. She also had a problem sharing her toys. One could surmise that a predatory creature wouldn't have gotten much socialization as a child, which perhaps could have stunted her emotional growth and led to her current nature. Hunting humans in the dead of night could also do a lot to the psyche of an otherwise sane person or otherwise sentient creature.

He had only just thought to bring up the issues with his own Master to Amara when the girl burst into the room, and Cambria's hands, not under his own influence, were made to rip the clothing from the fey's luxurious frame. For a split second, after her phasing, he wondered if he shapeshifting allowed her to take on her grey-skinned appearance with less...teeth. That would be a prime subject of inquiry for later.

" Maybe she just wants to watch...or join. " Cambria made sure his words were heard by the girl, so as to play along with Amara's charade. A ménage à trois would have been the least interesting thing to have happened tonight, in Cambria's opinion.

After she had been forced out, Cambria gracefully propelled himself from the bed and in the bocan's direction. In one fluid motion, he removed his shirt with his left hand, the silvery scars that marred his arms flashing in the firelight as he did so. He did what he had wanted to do since he laid eyes on this creature, reaching out with his right arm and passing his hand over the flesh on her midsection, tracing down around her hip before finally finding her left cheek, and grasping firmly, pulling her toward him. The flesh was soft, and supple, almost unbelievably so. Once again Cambria's analytical mind flashed a minor situational analogy, and he pondered whether or not the consistency of her flesh changed with her transformations.

...he hoped to find out sooner, rather than later.

Amara, in her surprise, felt her form waver and fall somewhere between her natural form and the one she held. So there was grey skin, silver hair, violet eyes, and her muscular body with no jagged teeth. She was tense for all of a few seconds before she closed her mouth over his.

She traced her fingertips over his chest and across his arms before pulling back from the kiss and looking at him. She could feel her heart beating against her chest and she grinned almost wickedly as she wrapped her arms around Cambria's neck and kissed him again. Her naked body pressed firmly against his, and in the glistening firelight he would see some battlescars of her own. A few little knicks and cuts in places where she had been too close to an errant blade, or a traveller had been too adamant in refusing to die.

"If only I knew force was a turn on for you, I would have done it much sooner." Amara purred against Cambria's throat as she kissed a trail from his shoulder to his jaw. With the possibility of having such deadly teeth it was a show of great care that she didn't move too quickly, and it was a sign of how incredibly interested in Cambria she was -- because she took her time.

Amara backed her way to the bed, her flesh still soft and supple in it's original form -- but more powerful and primal. She was like a cat coiled and ready to spring at the slightest provocation. Her eyes were hungry, but not for flesh -- they were ravenous for Cambria. It was a thought that hadn't crossed her mind before, but now she knew why Lydia had gone to Thorin Xanathi. However, she doubted that Lydia was as interested in him as she was in Cambria.

"Once you agree there is no going back to the way things were. You would have me at your beck and call and I would gladly answer." Amara smirked as she relaxed, feeling the bed bump against the back of her legs.

One push from Cambria could send them both sprawling onto the bed together.

Cambria's final curiosities about Amara were sated as she shimmered once more into a new form, a combination of the two she had taken previously. Her enticing ashen physique returned, absent the worrisome blade-like maw, which was replaced by quick, uneven breaths passing across luscious, pale lips. She was the creature Cambria never knew he desired, and yet he did. He shivered at the fact that her beauty could be overlooked by mere mortals, whom would likely first experience fear in the gaze of her deadly stare.

The rest of Cambria's visible skin was immaculate. Never had anyone penetrated his defense enough to cause damage to anything past midway up his arms. By the time anything got that far, he would have always had the option to go intangible and save himself, despite being outmatched. He was a survivor, if nothing else, and that made him much more valuable than someone twice as skilled as him in combat.

The assassin had short locks of tousled blond hair, which might have been naturally smooth, but was always displaced and mussed by the use of his mask, which was the latest thing to fall to the floor in their entangle. He might have tried to remove his pants, the last scrap of clothing clinging to his form, were she not so aggressively applying pressure. This, of course, only served to make the cloth more uncomfortable and restrictive by the second. It would be up to her to cross that bridge, as Cambria was more intrigued with exploring her flesh than exposing his own.

He paused to take a breath, breaking the seal their lips so flawlessly made, only to remind her of his goal so that she would not forget. " I just want to know what I am, answer me that and I will do whatever you want. "

It was his intent to fling their bodies forward unto the bed, but at the same time he was distracted by the effort of activating his power while so thoroughly unfocused. A sharp retraction of air blew in from all corners of the room, and a strange hollow echo would reverberate all sounds made henceforth, as though they were in an empty room with high walls. The force of the gust sent the bed sliding forward, where it would land with it's two furthest post propped against the far wall, not far from the pair of them.

They would find themselves landing on the bed at an angle, creating interesting opportunities for their future activities. It would come to rest at a stable 30 degree angle, which allowed them to rest their full weight upon it without sliding off, and yet they could also stand or kneel on the floor while still having the support and comfort of the bed.

Additionally, the manipulation of the air was done to cause an absence of atmosphere entirely in a barrier surrounding the room in all directions. This subtle absence caused sound to stop as it reached the barrier, making their room virtually soundproof so long as Cambria could maintain at least partial focus. He ran his fingers up her frame, caressing her sides as he reached her chest. His breath caught as he carefully made just his fingertips intangible, adding the tingling of his delicate strokes to the unnatural chill caused by his phased form passing through the flesh of another living creature.

" We won't be able to hear them, but they won't be able to hear us... "

"What you are, for now, is mine." Amara breathed against Cambria's neck as she shivered at his hand passing through her. She watched with amazement as his hand passed through her chest and she smiled at him, showing she was incredibly interested.

"What you are is beyond amazing to me. The King should be able to tell you about your origins if you decide to come back with me." All other thought was lost though as Cambria touched Amara's body. Her body was one of her weapons, lethal and beautiful in it's own right. No one had the pleasure of seeing it as Cambria had -- save the few trysts she'd had. Even then she had been in a body not her own, and this was the best of both worlds for the each of them. She didn't have claws and sharp fangs, but she looked very similar to what she was naturally.

Cambria's ability to focus and keep the room soundproof would be greatly tried during their session. Amara was an avid lover, leaving very little of Cambria's body unexplored. She was as interested in him as he appeared to be in her and it was a new sensation for her. The Bocan wouldn't call it love, but she would definitely call it like, maybe even infatuation. Their encounter had been brief but charged and she had even pledged herself to him and his protection. That meant that even if he left the Unseelie Realm he could call on her and she would come if she were alive. Cambria had gained a creature with fighting prowess by ruffling her proverbial feathers. How had he managed it?

The question was shoved to the back of Amara's mind as she wrapped her legs around Cambria. Thoughts were best left to other quieter times of day after all.

--36 hours later. 12:00 PM

Cambria groaned as he slowly awoke to a burning sensation in his arms. His eyes peeled upon and he attempted to focus at a point above his head. His arms were bound with the remains of what appeared to be his favorite leather chestpiece. A sigh escaped his lips as he looked around for a way to free himself. As he stretched to peer over the edge of the bed, it teetered and tilted, apparently propped upon on a table in the middle of the room.

The bed crashed to the floor, spilling Cambria's legs out onto a wine-stained carpet. A buzzing started in his head as he tried to remember the last day and a half. He scarcely remembered if he had seen daylight at all since it disappeared as he entered the tavern with Aeri. Sticking out of the floor near him was the knife the girl had threatened to use on Amara on the first night. He strained to reach it with his bound hands, and after some effort, managed to use it to free himself, shredding the remains of the already-clawed garment.

He stood on shaky legs, taking stock of the completely decimated room, and rubbed his temples as his eyesight went in and out of focus regularly. There was no sign of Amara for the moment, and of this he was glad, because there was an unseemly smell coming from him of sweat and...was that gratification or confusion?

Folded by the door was the rest of his clothing, freshly laundered, as well as his armor which looked to have had a nice polishing. He couldn't imagine that Amara would have done it, so he could only guess it was a service of the Inn or perhaps another showing of the girl with the knife. He gathered his things, and set about phasing through the walls of the building until he found a suitable place to bathe, as well as some towels and a new cloak. " I'll have to remember to have Sieg send this place some money to deal with the mess here. "

The thought passed quickly, as he realized if he were to send for more money for disappearing at the end of his vacation, Sieg's rage was likely to be doubled. Pushing his Master out of his head yet again, he slipped into a large circular bath, enjoying the warm water against his aching muscles.

As Cambria got settled a young woman entered the room carrying towels. When she sat the towels down he would notice that she looked incredibly familiar. It was Liliana, the girl that had threatened Amara with the knife in order to sleep with Cambria.

“Oh, hello.” She said. She was a rather fetching human girl with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She could have any merchant boy she wanted, and yet she wanted something fresh and new. She walked over to where Cambria was and trailed one finger across the top of his skull, playing with his hair.

“You haven’t been seen for a few days. Are you done with that…woman?” She sounded as if she were choking on the word.

In reality, she was trying really hard not to laugh. It would be hard to hold a glamour if she was in stitches laughing. Amara slipped her arms around Cambria’s neck and leaned down, her cheek – Liliana’s cheek, brushed against Cambria’s gently.

It would be like having any woman in the world he could ever want.

However, just then Liliana decided to walked through the door with a load of towels in her arms. Amara laughed brilliantly, having shifted seamlessly to the woman she had been all along. Long waist length silver hair and brilliant violet eyes.

“I see you two are still having fun.” Liliana commented with a sneer. Amara turned her head and kissed Cambria, sliding her hands into his bathwater without actually touching anything, but soaking her arms in the process.

“Oh you have no idea.” Amara purred in Cambria’s ear and kisses his neck. Liliana made a strangled noise before running out of the room and slamming the door.

“We should probably ditch this Inn. They’re going to come after me with pitchforks and torches for teasing that girl so badly.” Amara laughed and let her guise go to her natural form without the jaggedly sharp teeth. Cambria seemed to enjoy that form the best.

“Would you like to come with me to meet the King? It won’t take long to journey there.” She smiled against Cambria’s neck, loving the rich fresh smell of him. She didn’t mind his sweat and she rather enjoyed the way his scent was all over her even after she had bathed her body. Her sense of smel l was keen and she liked the smell he left behind to mark her. It was a spicy smell, like an autumn breeze that brought the chill of winter in its wake.

It was safe to say that Amara was smitten with him, and most of it was because he was attracted to her natural form and not repulsed by it.

“What do you say Cambria?”

Cambria sunk into the bath, closing his eyes in a serene state of relaxation overtook him. When the door opened, he would automatically spoil the joke for Amara. His sense of smell was already good, and complete manipulation of the air made it that much better. He smiled, eyes still closed, and decided to retort in order to hopefully pry at her jealous nature once more.

" Originally I was only as attracted to her as I was to you, maybe if you had beaten her to my room... "

He allowed the snide comment to trail as he sank a little further into the bath, only opening his eyes when Amara submerged her hand, coming dangerously close to 'releasing the kraken'.

" You saying you're afraid of a few measly humans with fire and pointy objects? "

Another jab at her pride, hopefully. Cambria couldn't even fathom why it was so fun to annoy this girl, but it brought him a joy that he had never felt in servitude of his Master, and so it continued despite his higher reasoning.

" I'll go...but we need to set out as soon as possible. I have less than 3 days to head back to Toryn. "

Cambria phased, passing once more through Amara and materializing on the other side of her in all his naked glory, before playfully bumping into her. His intent would be to feign pushing her in, but if she wasn't expecting it she might very well fall in with the sudden disappearance of Cambria's support in conjunction with the shove. A sudden blast of wind surged past him as he walked to his things, immediately drying him and causing his hair to revert immediately back to the tousled look that being damp had robbed it of.

He gave a genuine smile as he turned back to the tub, pulling the towel up around him, though it would be immediately obvious something was wrong. He caught a glance of himself in a full length mirror near his belongings, and the whites of his eyes were being overtaken with bright crimson. He watched as the blood began to pool there, and he dug his face into his hands to hide his predicament as he drug his things behind a curtain that made up a tiny changing room.

Amara felt Cambria pass through her and then bump into her. His sudden shift through her left her unbalanced enough, but by bumping her he sent her sprawling into the water. She shot up out of the water, her dress plastered to her figure in a deeply alluring fashion. She slipped and nearly ended up back in the water, barely managing to catch herself on the edge of the tub like a cat. Her silver hair plastered down the side of her face and along her back.

As she stepped out of the tub carefully, muttering curses at the tub for its slippery bottom, she noticed Cambria’s eyes. She frowned and shook her head, wondering what that was all about. He disappeared before she could compose herself enough. Snatching one of the towels off the table nearby, Amara quickly began to towel dry her hair. She looked more like a drowned cat than a terrifying creature of the night. She was something that people feared, the reason why people didn’t travel at night along roadways or alone. Sometimes even groups of people were easy prey for her and her brethren.

“What’s wrong with your eyes, Cambria? Are you okay?” Her concern was touching, because none of her other brethren were remotely interested in their lovers welfare.

“Why do you care?” Amara started violently and jumped to her feet, clutching the towel around her wet frame. In the doorway was a woman of some middle years, but as she entered the bathing room she lost that glamour and a fang mouthed Bocan woman stood there. Her long green hair swayed gently as she laid a hand on her largely pregnant belly.

“Lydia, we were just getting ready to leave.”

“I know what you were doing, Amara. The King is going to grow impatient with your…interests.” Lydia ran her hand over her belly and her voice was harsh as she spoke, putting the youngest Bocan in her place. “Don’t make me have to find you again, Amara. The King is interested in meeting Cambria and helping him find out what he is. I don’t think your interests have a place in the matter. See that he is delivered safely to King Pendaran.”

Amara looked startled at the revelation and she crossed her arms over her chest with a nod. “We were getting ready to leave as soon as we were dressed. I promised to bring him to the King for answers.” It was evident that Lydia didn’t know that Cambria was in the room with them behind the partition getting dressed.

“You will also reign in your enthusiasm when you are giving yourself to him. I can feel the bond you’ve formed with him. You’re allowing him to own part of you? Are you insane? You belong to King Pendaran and you would do well to remember that. There are only five of us left, Amara. Well, six if you count this baby.” Lydia patted her belly, and when Amara didn’t comment she glared. “Just get him to the King, quit screwing around.”

Lydia was gone as quickly as she had come and Amara sat heavily on a stool near the wall. She felt a little numb being rebuked by her mentor. However, whatever Lydia was carrying by way of child was not going to be worth the effort. Amara couldn’t imagine why she would waste the one chance she had of bearing a useful child to the Bocan society on some by blow Vuri.

Amara was so immersed in her thoughts that she wouldn’t hear Cambria if he came near her or spoke.

Cambria emerged from the tiny nook fully dressed, slinging aside the curtain with an air of urgency now taking over his actions. He wore the same armor as before, yet clothing was missing entirely from his torso. He wore the new cloak he had snuck away from some unlucky patron of the Inn, which was left open, revealing his porcelain white skin. His mask had been replace, but with a strange exception. He wore a small strip of black cloth around his head, blinding himself entirely and hiding his normally vibrant green eyes from their facets in his guise.

He moved remarkably well for a person completely blinded, it would become obvious as he gathered the last of his trinkets into a tiny pouch at his waist that his coordination had not taken a very severe blow by choosing to cut himself off from the visual.

" I'm fine, but we need to go. We might have less time than I thought...my Master...he's seen you. " Cambria paused, wondering if it was heartless to pretend he hadn't heard what was said between Lydia and Amara. He couldn't help but feel like he should respond to Amara's now-apparent sacrifice, and yet there was time later to keep her from doing something foolish if they left now.

"We just need to make it to the woods. It's easier to connect to the Unseelie Realm from there for me." Amara took Cambria by the hand and smiled at him even though he couldn't see her face. He would feel the bones in her hand shift as she took up the form she originally came to him in. It wouldn't do for the humans to see him leaving with a strange creature and not the woman he went upstairs with.

"Lets get out of here before we have or to worry about than pitchforks." That was all she had to say about Lydia's presence.

Amara kept her hold on Cambria's hand as she walked in a slight daze through the Inn and out the door. At some point the tab had been paid and she made a mental note not to kill the elemental any time soon. Once they were out the door she took Cambria by the shoulders and turned him toward the east, toward the woods.

"We need to be in the deepest part of the woods, where it is always twilight no matter how much sun there is." There was nothing to talk about as far as ownership went. King Pendaran did own her and her soul, but she was still free to give herself and her services as she saw fit. Any bond that she formed was her choice, and in her world, any freedom of choice was a sweet luxury. It helped that she enjoyed Cambria -- she wouldn't say she loved him. That emotion was just too strong for a couple that had met only a few days ago.

Amara was, however, very interested in his welfare.

Once they were outside, Cambria used Amara's guidance to begin directing scents from the east toward them. It took him a few moments before he could smell the musky scent of greenery, and he began setting about funneling the air in front of him into a makeshift catapult. Dust began to shift around them, revealing a thing cyclone of air dancing at Cambria's fingertips.

" We can travel quickly with this, but it'll be even faster if I make us intangible...how comfortable are you with that? " The lines making up Cambria's physical form began to shimmer, and he outstretched his hand, one foot at the edge of the unnatural wind funnel.

The actual 'flight' would be over in a few seconds, without wind resistance or gravity getting in the way, but the landing would be uncomfortable at best. Especially if you took the ride in your own body. She would see Cambria's power as he saw it, the entire world screaming around her with only blurry shades of grey resembling things she might recognize. There would be a howling, screaming wind even before entering the funnel, drowning out the echoes of the world around them. It was a sensation Cambria was used to, but he remembered how terrifying it was for him his first time.

" Don't be afraid of what you see, nothing can touch you as long as we're phased. "
