Mission

Gabriel looked and smiled out at the crowd he was serving and then down at the little boy at his feet.”Okay Joshua, time to go I think you’re done and that arm is healed!” He spoke softly too the child and knelt down picking him up with a hug then lowered him back to the ground and patted his head.

Gabriel waded out into the crowd and shook hands hugging everyone who came to him in need and he blessed all who touched his hands watching their infirmities be healed one by one. Then he received a tap on the shoulder from an assistant of his from the church. “Sir we’re having a problem with aid distribution the volunteers are feeling a little unappreciated also. We were wondering if you could come cheer their spirits.” Gabriel smiled and nodded and bowed to the crowd asking to be excused and assured them he would return shortly. “The Lord of all Creation be with you my friends.”

It was impressive that Ari could remain unconscious for such a longer period of time. The Walk from the nest to the broken city was by no means a short one, so by the time the Jester made his return, talked his way past the guards and was prowling through the streets his feet were very much in pain.

“bye the gods, I think you actually put on weight!” He grunted as he battled his way through the broken cities suffering and corrupted denizens. He moved around trying to located a suitable place to hide out when he saw a sign. It was a modest building, with a crowd of people out side of it singing and begging. “Christers.” He whispered as he noticed the large cruciform cross that was sitting on top of the old run down building. Apparently they had created a mission and were offering aid in order to convert people to their new and radical faith.

Holding Ari in his arms, and pushing past the crowd(Roughly) he came to the front. “Okay, okay the lady needs some help, LADY IN NEED!” He yelled feigning desperation. “I can make a donation…” He said looking at one of the church helpers.

She felt her body being carried and her eyes fluttered open. Her vision slowly focused and she tilted her head back and looked up. "Jes...wha...where am...what happened?" She looked around drowsily. Was she where she thought she was. She heard him call out and she put a finger to his lips. "Shhhh...I-I'm fine really. I just haven't eaten in a couple of days."

That plus seeing someone..someTHING get it's head severed off was a little much for her to take. She felt another wave of dizziness. Groaning, she buried her face into his arm until the sensation went away.

As Gabriel finished up cheering their spirits and admonishing them for their selfless work and that they were making a difference he departed after pronouncing a blessing, "Lord refresh their tired and weary hands in Jesus name. Amen" Now walking back outside and noticed a disturbance coming to the crowd it was a cry of distress. “To you God I give this glory of strangers calling on your name!” Gabriel declared to the Lord smiling and parted the crowd as if he were Moses splitting the red see as his ancestors had witnessed a few thousand years ago. He looked upon the woman being carried with great pity grabbing. “Here follow me, bring her into the sanctuary and there is no fee or required here friend.” There is food for you also.” Is the way Gabriel greeted these two new persons, instead of religious fervor they were obviously in dire straits and it was an honor to serve such as them.

Gabriel led them into the church hastily not addressing the crowd knowing they see the apparent greater need he must tend to with his top aide by his side a side kick of sorts and body guard should the worse ever happen. Lin was his name and serving God and the man of God is what his mission in life was which he gladly executed with great reverence. Sometimes it was too much kind of like when Jesus was with his disciples in the gospels when people would attempt to come to him they would attempt to push such people away. Something neither Jesus nor Gabriel ever stood for and never will. “Tell me friend what is your name and how did you let your friend become so emaciated? Surely travelers such as yourselves had provisions such as food for your journey?” Gabriel made small talk as they reached the sanctuary and Lin made ready a table for the female and her companion. “Here, set her down as well as you and I shall bless the meal.” He spoke soft in tone but had an air of authority which most religious leaders of the day lacked. “Lin go get our guests some water they must be thirsty today is a scorcher.” Gabriel smiled at them both. He had more wisdom about him than he let on out right but he allowed mercy to rule his heart and to flow from it also like Christ but as all men lacking Christ’s perfection.

“Don’t worry about it” The Jester said to Ari being about using a tone about as gentile as he could muster. “It was they things were meant to happen..plus something tells me their was more to him then what we saw…either way we would do best to avoid the whole put the whole thing behind us.” He said as he looked up at the Pastor who was guiding him into his mission.

These Christers, they were odd people. Always trying to help you, they were good folk for the most part. The Jester would ease Ari to her feet and allow her to sit at the table., The Jester Soon followed suit sitting next to her. He responded to Gabriel’s inquiry as he stuffed his mouth full of the first scraps of food offered to him. “They *chew* call me The Jester.” His voice muffled by a full mouth, crumbs flying out onto the table. “She was famished from our long journey from the jungle.” A simple lie, but one did not need to know exactly what had just transpired

He then offered a half bitten piece of bread to Ari. He swallowed his food and soon after slapped the dagger he had taken from the corpse of Vylrath on to the table. “I don’t have much, but here take it, a donation,”
